Description
Yey, I'm happy i got this outta the way!OKAY! For all you Incineroar haters out there:
Like i mentioned before in my status post; I found it oddly funny how an immense fanbase adored Litten's design until they witnessed it's final evolution.
"WHAT IS THAT THING?", "IT LOOKS HIDEOUS!" and the most well-known one, "WHY IS IT BIPEDAL??? I WANT IT ON ALL 4'S GODDAMMIT!". Okay, i must admit; I didn't like
it's design at first either, - in fact, i was hoping for it to remain a quad.Β I was bummed about seeing Litten's official final evo BUT! it's design gradually grew on me. Sure, it might
not be what i desired, but i think people should start to realise it's not all about "appearance". It's just makes you judgemental, y'know? I use to hate Trubbish and Garbodor until
they grew on me aswell. Yes, yes. I understand your opinion and that theres some pokemon we dislike because not everyone likes every single one.. right? o.o However, it shouldn't mean you have to start bashing on the poor guy... Look, you're hurting it's feelings you sick person!
than having to bear Incineroar's hard rocking abs... like what? LOL If you absolutely loved Litten, you would accept it's evolutionary-line regardless of designs. It seems that you don't like it much now, huh?
Pokemon is mainly targeted for a young demographic and what do boys like? Wrestlers! uh.. don't they?? *scratches head* (i use to watch WWE back in the day.. oh god .u.)
Thus, face it. Life isn't fair, you can't expect to get everything you want otherwise you're just being ignorant. We gotta' roll through the good and bad times in life, it's what makes us stronger.
Why should appearance prevent you from choosing a pokemon? or anything else on that matter?
Isn't it focused primarily on a bond you share between trainer and pokemon?
I'd like to learn/look up a pokemon's description and see what kind of cool moves one can learn!
So stop whining like a kid about it! ugh.
*chuckles* Heh, i guess that's what you popplio-haters deserve for bashing on my sweatpea c;
So, if you want to retort, then go ahead. I don't wish to start an argument, rather letting you all know that it's not the end of the world.
I could go on, and on but i think i might stop it here XD Sorry for the ramblin' Also, i don't think my grammar isn't doing too good tonight -.- don't judge meh, it's nearly 4am!

I picked Litten and evolved it into an Incineroar. He kicked so much butt that I basically blew through the whole League in under 30 minutes. Seriously the last few legs of the game were so easy with Incineroar on my team. When I first saw Incineroar, I thought he was pretty cool looking. I always go for the Fire Type Starters in all my playthroughs and I loved my Incineroar since he was just a Litten. Incineroar gets unfair hate because he's not as cute as his other forms. It's not about being cute, it's about being tough. That's what it's been like for all the other final stages of the Fire Starters and no one complained about them for it. But now Incineroar comes along and suddenly everyone feels the need to complain about something that's been happening in this line theme since Generation 1. I really do feel bad for Incineroar because of how the fans treat him.Β

I completely agree with you, I actually like Incineroar, especially after it became Fire/Dark type, in fact, I might consider choosing Litten for Ultra Moon. Regarding the Fire/Fighting controversy, nobody's complaining about the Grass Starters being 5 reptiles in a row or that almost every Pseudo Legendary PokΓ©mon is Dragon type (I'm not hating on these PokΓ©mon, I just hate when people complain about one repetitive concept, but not the other or better yet, not complain at all). As much as I love Primarina the most out of the Alola Starters as well as the previous Starters, even I'm aware that its design isn't immune to criticism and that goes for the rest of the most popular and well-received PokΓ©mon. If they wanted a quadruped so badly, Typhlosion is the closest Fire Starter they'll ever get for now.

As a filthy casual to whom aesthetics play a decent part in how much I like a Pokemon, I was withholding judgement on who I would pick until the whole evo line was revealed. As soon as I saw Torracat I knew Litten wasn't for me, I'm not too big on fire type starters(exception being fennekin since it hit a major softspot of mine) and the design was off putting to me. The color didn't seem right, and those fat finger paws didn't look like they belonged. Brionne on the other hand, looked pretty good, and I usually grab the water type starter so it had that going for it as well. Dartrix wasn't my cup of tea either, but it was those final evos that sealed the deal, even if Incineroar didn't crank all the problems I had with Torracat up to 11 it still wouldn't have pulled me away from Primarina. Shit is fucking gorgeous. Now, if I had just never looked at anything, got the game and chose Litten, sure I would've looked the other way when it comes to design, but I made my decision devoid of that kind of attachment. I've never hated on any design, don't have a problem with anything Pokemon has ever put out design wise to the level where it could be called hate, it's just a matter of preference. Like you said, everyone has Pokemon they like and don't like for various reasons. There is a reason the eveelutions are so immensely popular, they are aesthetically pleasing.

Okay first: I love how you drew the Pokemon in this strip! So cute. ^v^
Now a reply to the description:
I agree! People are seriously wasting their time hating on a VIRTUAL creature.
Also, not all of Litten's fanbase is like this. Take me for example. I was #TEAMLITTEN since it's very first reveal.
Once its final evolution was revealed I wasn't upset, I actually remember squealing because it was a dark type. >///<
I also found the hate it got annoying and disheartening, it somewhat had the "reverse psychology" affect on me. Meaning the more hate Incineroar got the more I loved it.
Thanks to all the hate it has received it is now my favorite fire type starter of all time.

I'm with you. I've loved Litten since ti was first reveal, always go with the fire types they're awesome. When I found out that Incineroar's design, I was actually thinking it would have been a fighting type and was pleasantly surprised when I found out it was actually a Dark type. I thought that it was a new and fresh combo for the fire starters and couldn't wait to get one. When mine finally evolved into an Incineroar, I welcomed it with open arms. Like you, I also find the hate it get annoying and usually don't listen to a good part of it. I focused on how powerful Incineroar was and how well it's typing was working for it. I love Incineroar and I won't change a thing about it.

You felt pity for Incineroar, which compounded with your already present preference for it. A nice modern example is Pearl's tiny fanbase, they like her, and since most people despise her, they also pity her and that results in them liking her more.

Long story short, I originally choose popplio. Litten I didn't at first like because
it looks really...edgy, while it's still edgy my friends still convinced me it's cute, and
I did warm up to it. And like delphox I almost didn't want to believe it at first but
I did warm up to it...again my friends help alot to change my mind about Incineroar's
appearance, and I did...even ship incineroar with primarina. Popplio gotten hate as well
but grew love for it's final stage form.(there are some who dislike it's girly design...which
still...there are pokemon with girly designs and still be male)

I have to say that Incineroar is least favourite of the fully evolved starters for Sun and Moon. Would I liked a different design? Yes. Is a big deal for me? No. Well maybe... but it's because it looks so much like another fire-fighting type and the fact that it isn't doesn't really help. It's like when you tell a kid not to hit his brother so he kicks him instead and thinks he's clever for finding the loophole. I'm not saying Game Freak purposely did that but that's what it feels like.
In any case, I never decide on my starter before the all the forms are officially released and Rowlet had me at "Hooded-ghost-archer-owl".

InfernoWizard In reply to SaryTheWolf [2017-01-21 15:48:03 +0000 UTC]
Well, it could've been worse. If you think about it, Incineroar's design
isn't that bad. It may appear as another fire/fighting but i'd like to think
that there's more too it than it's overall appearance. I know it's attacks and backstory
won't change your opinion on it and that's totally okay!
I use to hate Garbodor and Vanilluxe so much because of their appearance but after time
they grew on me. The Unova region was set on America which is why they contained
a silly, cartoon-ish design.
I'm speculating that Gamefreak will take notice about the amount of backlash that
Incineroar has received. So we might see a quad in the next generation? Resulting
four-leg fans to rejoice once more. lol

SaryTheWolf In reply to InfernoWizard [2017-01-22 20:47:21 +0000 UTC]
It can always be worse. I checked its Pokedex entries and origin on Bulbapedia and they didn't change mind. Moves sets where never a big deal for me.
I hope they take notice but I don't think it's necessary to have quadruped next time (nice but not necessary). You can easily have bipedal a Pokemon that doesn't look like a fighting type.
π: 0 β©: 2
InfernoWizard In reply to SaryTheWolf [2017-01-23 09:14:30 +0000 UTC]
I don't think so, i always try to look on the bright side of things.
You should atleast give it a try then your perspective might change on it.Β You could try and seek for a
Littin then train it's way up to an Incineroar and play with it for a little while until you had enough.
I'm planning on doing the same with other starters.
Frankly, that's what most fans expect from Gamefreak otherwise they'll crack up again.
Meh, I don't see a problem if it does end up appearing as a fighting type. The thing with Incineroar is that - Well, after all, it is an embodiment of a wrestler so it isn't
it's fault. Sure, it may seem repetitive if they plan to release another official fighting-looking type, but hopefully that's not the case. I have my hopes for Gamefreak
and i do feel that ultimately the next generation will be entirely different from the last.

SaryTheWolf In reply to InfernoWizard [2017-01-23 21:48:52 +0000 UTC]
I do plan to try it out once I get a Littin through wounder trade. Incineroar's not that bad really, it's just my least favorite of the three, they are plenty of Pokemon I dislike a lot more.
I feel that the dark-type-wrestler concept would have been better as regular Pokemon, people tend to give them stick and it wouldn't have the fire-fighting starter history to content with.

Ironically, when Braixen was first revealed, people started hating on it and assumed it would become Fire/Fighting for literally no reason than it being bipedal just because we had 3 Fire/Fighting types in a row (if people think that all Fighting types are bipedal, there are few quadrupedal ones like Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion and Keldeo before), but when it evolved into a Fire/Psychic type, Delphox, they instead decided to hate it for being "too girly" as if Meganium and its pink flower petals around its neck didn't exist. I honestly don't care what Game Freak comes up with next, but I'm personally hoping for a snake Fire Starter in the future, not only because it would make it the first legless Fire Starter (Snivy and Servine had their reasons of having limbs before losing them after evolving into Serperior), but at the same time, the Fire Starters are mostly mammals at this point the same way the Grass Starters are mostly reptiles.

I could open a whole can of worms via Delphox being "too girly". I'm going to leave those worms alone.
A fire snake could pretty cool. Personally I'm hoping for animal that can't be tied into the Chinese Zodiac no matter the how many leaps in logic are made.

While the designs are the first thing people see in a PokΓ©mon, I think that getting to know the PokΓ©mon is more important than judging them for how they look (I chose Popplio since the first time it was introduced despite being initially hated by the majority and I didn't care what it evolved into before Primarina was revealed plus I had a feeling Litten would become bipedal anyway even before the wrestler was first leaked). Besides, we can't all have every PokΓ©mon look perfect and being the best at everything in terms of battling. It's OK for people to have an opinion (if they don't like Incineroar, that's totally fine and I respect that), but I don't like how butthurt they are to the point where they threaten to kill Game Freak for making "terrible" designs. The Internet is a toxic place, especially for the haters since it enhances their negativity and hatred.

I was joking. That was a joke. I did not intend to say that people don't have their own opinions. But I do get a little annoyed about how people praised the first two evos, but hate on the final. I am sorry if I did offend someone, or say people don't have they're own opinions. But I do agree with you, I also chose Popplio from the beginning because I thought it was cute, although, if I play the game again, I plan on choosing Litten.

I'm not a big fan of the design but I do love the personality they built around it. The idea of this big tough guy, who everyone thinks is a no good bad guy but is really a big softy. Plus, that kinda gives me the ideaΒ an Incineroar still trying to act like a Litten. So in essence, you have this big wrestler in a a tiger suit trying to curl up in your lap.

I loved Litten's reveal and I still love him as Incineroar. While the change to being bipedal did catch me off guard, I think it's a really cool progression from adorable kitten, to skilled hunting tiger, to badass wrestler.
People's complaints are ridiculous because the final forms of the last few Generation's starters have all been very different. Just look at Oshawott and Fennekin. One was despised as a starter, yet loved as a final form, while the other was like Litten. Players should focus of the bond they have rather than the appearance. Besides that, who wouldn't want to wrestle Incineroar? It would be a blast! Sorry for the rant, it's just that your comic really struck a cord with me.
