Originally massed produced like all the other seekers, Unit 1258 knew he was destined to be more than canon expendable fodder. 1258 was originally seen by Megatron as just another Seeker clone. The only thing that set him apart from the other Seekers was his sense of self preservation. 1258 survived much longer than the average Seeker ( Which was a couple hours). After two million years of fighting and surviving, 1258 felt he deserved more recognition and requested to be promoted to air commander. Unfortunately for him, they declined. 1258 eventually did get his chance at leadership when the Then-current Air Commander, Brimstone was about to lead the seekers to battle with a flawed battle strategy. 1258 suggested a much better battle plan, but was ignored. Realizing that this plan would result in the failure of the mission, 1258 killed Brimstone and assumed command. 1258 lead the Seekers to victory. Because of this, he was allowed to keep his position. 1258 later renamed himself "Starscream" for his new position. However, this wasn't enough. Starscream wanted to be more than the commander of the seekers. He wanted to be leader of ALL Decepticons.
