Description An update of an old photo, I sent the previous version to my 'scraps' section because I felt it was lacking vitality. I added colors in photoshop, so I'm interested in seeing what people think, I'm still not completely satisfied with it though, and plan to continue working on it.

Is the entire city canals, or are there roads there, too?

there are lots of streets, think of it like there's hundreds of islands, each with its own streets and canals separating them

Sadly, only one income here because I can't work and so we just get by. But if we could play the lottery, maybe we could win millions and then we could come

why can't you work? I'm having money problems too...but there are creative ways to travel, I like your photos, very classic, reminds me of photos I've seen around my greatgrandmother's house.

Health reasons mostly. Glad you like my work on the vintage photos and yes, I can imagine you'd see some like it at your great-grandmother's house

I've seen that they used to paint over the photos to add more color, add the fake colors look so interesting, its a practice I wish were still done

LoriD55 In reply to infinitussollux [2005-08-11 05:38:08 +0000 UTC]

Well you don't really see too many vintage type girls out there anymore, most of the postcards I see today are cartoonish or scenic

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

infinitussollux In reply to LoriD55 [2005-08-11 05:44:57 +0000 UTC]

you can always set up a photo session yourself and adapt the photos

LoriD55 In reply to infinitussollux [2005-08-11 05:58:33 +0000 UTC]

Well the photos I work on are mostly postcards But I can hand do them, I can only digitally colorize them.

infinitussollux In reply to LoriD55 [2005-08-11 12:37:12 +0000 UTC]

what do you mean, like actual old postcards? I've never seen postcards featuring people, just sceneries/tourist attractions

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LoriD55 In reply to infinitussollux [2005-08-11 16:01:39 +0000 UTC]

That's because these are vintage postcards, the newer postcards are like you said scenery/tourist/comical/cartoonish

No, no problem finding them and I have 1000's of vintage pics on my puter

its very beautiful. I like what you did with the colors. The composition is great as well. I would've taken out whatever is jutting out from the building on the top-right. Its a great shot.

infinitussollux In reply to rinnalynette [2005-07-26 01:12:01 +0000 UTC]

thanks, i'm glad you liked the colors, they're the most important aspect for me. I know what you mean about the flag in the upper right, how it disturbs the composition, but I try to leave things as I found them, cloning things out just seems unnatural to me,yet I have no problem changing a pic's colors, don't know why...anyways thanks for taking the time to comment

Gorgeous shot. I understand what you mean about pictures coming out grey. But with color, this great. Very relaxing. Like a stroll in the park except with water, buildings, and no walking.

Fantastic, good job.

plzen-czech In reply to ??? [2005-07-25 22:37:40 +0000 UTC]

Great job. The gondola is in the perfect position to balance the whole shot.

The colours seem a little muddy, althouth not my cup-o-tea, I suppse it adds a certain earthy realism to the shot.

infinitussollux In reply to plzen-czech [2005-07-25 22:55:06 +0000 UTC]

thanks for your comment, and I agree with you about the colors, what you stated was a concern of mine, the earth-toned filter even makes the water look muddy. I was thinking of altering the colors, maybe I will.

Hey Deviant...
Your awesome, and it's been recognised, I'm =quizzy , and I'm part of a project over at =Deviant-Underground to promote underappreciated artists, and share their art with our watchers, each day three pieces are featured in the club journal, and the same journal posted to all the daily members, who post the same journal in their journals, each saturday the 5 favourite deviations from that week are posted again, and that journal sent to a different list of members, then those deviations are put into a poll, and by the next week, the deviation with the most votes is submitted to the clubs gallery with comments disabled and a link to the orignal. so eventually, when the project gets bigger, then that should have a huge effect on the featured deviations comments and favourites...

Anyway, today your piece was featured at [link]
Enjoy the little bit of attention.

Ways you can help out...
Suggest a deviation to be featured (not yours and less then 15 favourites) by noting =yuppy64 with the link.

I'd agree if I could get the colors I want out of my camera. It just seems that I tend to produce grayish colors and need to add color in photoshop.
