Thanks a lot, Hassane
Not only for the critique but also for the suggestion on how to make this shot, and quite a few of my other shots, even better
You are right on with me having used an Unsharp Mask. It shows that I am no Photoshop wizard or post processing expert in general, I guess I should now learn more about "Layer Masking"
Once again, thank you very much for this upbeat, fair, and constructive critique,
Ingo

A simple, yet sweet photo. The exposure is perfect - The only slightly blown out parts I see are not distracting at all. The detail in the white pedals (and insides of the flowers) are really nice. Overall, this is a nice photo of the subject.
Pros: Great exposure and focus - I love it that you can see every detail on the pedals along with the insides of the flowers. Composition is nice as well.
Cons: Maybe a bit too much noise in the background of the photo. The noise almost gives detail to the bokeh.
By the way - I love the detail in the close-up too! WOW!

Thank you very much, Melissa
I am happy that you like the photo and I completely understand your noise critique - I heard it before
I am still learning how to process my shots better, and noise seems to be a problem that I create during that phase.
I also would like to thank you for the comment with regards to the close-up, glad you like that one as well,
Ingo

It can be a problem when playing with color or sharpening. I usually try to mask out my background from any sharpening I do to avoid the noise, but in the end, it usually has to be de-noised anyway!

Ah,
Now you throw in a word that I have not even heard yet, not to mention would know how to do it: De-Noise - haha
I get what it means, but man, do I still have to learn a lot or what?
Thank you very much for the additional information,
Ingo

I suppose I could have made it up... just a hosrter way to say reduce noise.
There are good programs out there that help noise. I use Nik Define 2.0, but I believe it costs money (got it from where I work)

Haha,
You could have, but you didn't
Again, thanks a lot for the software tip, I had no idea about these special wares for special post-processing processes (except photomatrix).

This one I added to my favs and it deserves it.
The details in this are very nice, nothing is overexposed or blown out and I very much like your crop on this, it works quite well with the subject and composition.
Overall it is very clean and I admire that, a little noisy perhaps in the dark areas, but I can deal.
It is darn sharp I will say that with the Stamen being very detailed.
I really think you have a winner here and I can't really especially suggest anything that would improve this photo, it is just one of those shots that seems to have it.
Great work!

Thank you so much, I am very happy that you like the shot enough to make it a favorite of yours.
I have been made aware by your critique here, and a few others as well - even on other photos, that I tend to make my shots too noisy in post processing, the reason is probably that I don't really know that part of shooting that well yet, haha.
Again, thanks a lot,
Ingo

To be honest I was more blown away by the thumb in the artist comment, but okay I will critique this one. What I first noticed are the beautiful orange tones they are really lovely and the fit great to the white from the colors. The composition is⦠yea, normal I guess, I must admit that I would prefer a more dramtic or rather a more interesting angle. Also the background color is distracting in my opinion it's to dark and "boring". Maybe making it completly black would look better.
Oh, and normaly I hate black frames but in this shot a white one would be very distracting I guess nice choice. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

But overall I really enjoy this shot. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Many thanks for the critique, much appreciated. I have just a few days begun with darkening my backgrounds (on some shots, not this one) even more and I see where you are coming from with your critique.
Again, much appreciated,
Ingo

Fair critique. However, in my opinion the background is very nice like that. I don't think it could be otherwise than a dark color with the white flowers.
The only think I could add is to darken the background a bit more ...

First you dissagree with me and then you agree with me.
I also only told that a darker bg would maybe look better.

:giggle :You said completely black. And I say only darker.
And it was just a suggestion to darken the background, even though it looks great like that too.

Well normally I'm not a fan of such "trist atmosphere pictures" though i have to admit that the think works on this one. But the impact of course isn't that huge^^
The composition is great really... sharp focus, nice DOF, good framing. i like that you left out any other objects and just concentrate on the blossoms in this one.
Maybe you could have tried to apply a noice reduction software or next time try to use a minimal ISO setting, as much as i can see the noise is pretty high in this one.
Besides this a soild capture.

Vielen Dank Johannes
I am glad you like this shot, despite your general dislike for this "style"
I hear you, and all the others that wrote a critique, on the noise, I have to learn how to process my shots better. But that is part of the reason why I want a critique and I am happy you pointed it out.
Much appreciated,
Ingo

Yeah, it's not that difficult and there are enough guides on the web,
but don't get me wrong, your gallery is great, you have very nice picture and thats for sure a watch
if you want, critique one of my works too , i would be glad^^

Thanks Jo,
I didn't get you wrong, if I only wanted to hear ahhs and uhhs and ohhs then I should not have asked for a critique, I want to become better (than I already am, haha).
I am sure willing to critique one or the other of your works, but give me a little time as I am very reserved when it comes to make any negative comment (even if it is only minimal) on shots of people I don't know (longer). You never know what you get when you are honest, some really don't want to hear what you have to say.
Thanks,
Ingo
