Well for the base image I sketch it out with a pencil, use finer edges for the darker tones and some light shading were it’s needed, then when I’m satisfied I take a picture of it edit it to get the right contrast and lighting from the photograph then think up a good name then post it online, I don’t use anything fancy to edit it just a simple photo editing app on my phone, but it brings it out well, the photo editing app is called axium systems it’s the best one you can get on your phone for minimal price

Ahaha yeah, I’ll have to draw the imperial guard at some point, especially the death korps of Krieg, I genuinely love their imperial German inspired aesthetic, also the traitor guard look pretty badass as well despite being heretical scum

If you plan to draw the krieg regiments and the renegades / militias of chaos the best scenario would be the siege of Vraks.
It is basically the most memorable campaign of the krieg regiments, plus the Vraks militias are one of the most iconic renegade armies.

Cool I’ll definitely be doing something like that especially if it involves the death korps they’re my favourite guardsman regiment, I’ve recently got into warhammer and I’ve been reading the lore, I’ll hopefully try the table top game one day

Yea, entering the "world" of Warhammer 40k is usually very overwhelming thanks to the immense amount of lore in the universe.
The quickest way to understand the lore would be to watch YouTube videos that tell you at least the main and most important part of the lore, there are also videos that talk about the history of specific imperial guard regiments, such as the kriegs.

Yeah I watch a lot of YouTube content on warhammer I get the jest of it and it becomes all the more fascinating the more I learn, it’s great to have a Sci fi fantasy universe that is so fleshed out

In a nutshell it is a ridiculous and exaggerated universe, but that's the fun and charismatic thing about it. (plus it's not a generic futuristic universe)

Yeah that’s what I like about it, I also love how a lot of the guards regiments are inspired from real historical units the Krieg obviously get their look from old imperial German soldiers, the pretorians get their look from soldiers of the British empire and the Maccabian Janissaries look like something out of the the ancient world but with guns, it’s annoying though that you have all this lore about the different regiments with seriously cool looking soldiers but games workshop can’t be bothered to make any models of them, they’re mainly focused on space marines when I really want some death corps

By the way, there are other companies that sell 40k miniatures, not just the games workshop stores.
Usually these tertiary companies are dedicated to selling miniatures that are no longer produced or miniatures of specific factions, such as the unique imperial guard regiments such as the kriegs, the legion of steel, etc.
Games workshop is currently more interested in "playing it safe" so they will almost certainly focus on the space marines and at most the "generic" imperial guard.

The empire being so fucking vast you can make a regiment that is the equivalent of any real life army / culture, and is considered canonical. (It is quite common for fans to design random imperial planet armies based on real life countries or cultures).

Yeah that’s so cool, makes warhammer much more creative than other sci fi stories, that’s good to know, can you name any of these alternatives to games workshop, I know there’s black stone fortress who make warhammer minis I just recently got some traitor guard for the chaos army I’m building, I find a lot of stuff on eBay but it sucks how overpriced some of it is, if I had a 3D printer I’d create my own minis but they’re pricy too so yeah, I just budget for it, really enjoy it as a side hobby though

Cool, at the moment my chaos army consists of khorne beserkers, chaos cultists, some bloodletters and soon the traitor guard i managed to get a good deal for them all on Amazon so yeah, perfect to start out with
