Description I'm really proud of the bunny in this one, I basically drew it freehand with a reference image.

Everything made in Inkscape by me.

You need to figure out beforehand where your light is coming from. Your foliage has shadows on the left, shadows on the right, shadows at the bottom, and then there seems to be a cone of light below the tree, which makes absolutely no sense. Create a single light-source in your scene (if you don't know where to put it, top left is generally most pleasant) and then shade everything correctly according to light coming from that point. You can use the star feature in inkscape to help with that: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21… . Let the light rays guide you on where to put shadow, and try to imagine how each ray touches the surface at a given point. If the surface is angled towards the ray, make it bright (directly illuminated), if the surface is angled away from the ray, make it dark (shaded) and if there is a big object blocking the ray, make it cast a shadow (shadowed.)

Once you feel you have a grip on that, look up the three-point lighting system (look up e.g. andrew prices tutorial on youtube on it)

I see what you mean. The spot under the tree was made to try and indicate that it was dry because the tree was shading it, but I guess I didn't make that too obvious. I kinda made this a while ago, so I'll try to incorporate definite light sources into my future drawings. Thanks for your feedback!
