Description
So here's some homemade Amanita phalloides or Death Cap mushrooms.Called the death cap, because (should you be fool enough to eat it) it will kill ya stone dead.
These however, are completely safe as they are made from polymer clay and purely decorative.
They will shortly be available to buy at www.etsy.com/uk/shop/InkTonic?… (Just not yet as I have not made a box for them).

Pretty but Deadly Its active ingredients destroy the liver. In Europe, each year there are accidents associated with the consumption of amanita phalloides, spring, wild, the Livid entolome, and the cortinaires.

A principle that had taught me my father (connoisseur in fungi) "do pluck only mushrooms you know"

I have only ever eaten the giant puffball fungi finds because its the one edible mushroom impossible to mistake. It doesn't seem to taste of much but is good in soup or under the grill with some nice cheese and black pepper.
I have learned all my fungi knowledge from books. One day tho I hope to follow someone who really knows and make some tasty wild mushroom dishes. I have joined our national trust and they have "a fungi guy" so maybe i can learn from him. Book learning is very different from proper outside learning. I love books, but they do have their limitations. Even when I take pictures or samples home to look up in the big collins books...I am never certain.
Its the same with wild flowers and bugs. I am still very much learning and trying to seek out people to learn from.
Luckily fish are fish! and you always know who they are and even if they are carp and not so tasty you won't die from eating them or accidentally poison dinner guests.

It is certain that one learns well and quickly with a specialist. Pity that you do not reside in Carcassonne because in our team there are very competent mycologist. We have a professional entomologist and a few very good botanists, including a woman.
