Fanart for Rnd_Injustice's "My Favourite Red Scarf", Chapter 14. Y/N's sister Vic comes for a visit and tries to convince her to go clubbing.I gotta admit, the background for this one was a struggle. I started out with a deep walnut on the shelving and dark, desaturated books to give the interior of the bookshop a more rustic, old-timey feel. But the characters (having brown hair themselves) didn't stand out as much. I tried washing out the background with colorless blender, but that didn't touch it. So I got out the colored pencils and scrubbed the background with a beige to push it back and separate it from the characters. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out, and I think it gives the place a dusky, old feeling -- which is the feeling I get from Y/N's bookshop anyway.

I-I don't know why, but something about Y/n's expression is so....defeated. Like someone who just constantly gone through such things over and over again, and knows that there's no fighting this.
Don't get me wrong, this drawing, with the shading and the colours, is all just so beautiful and incredibly well done, but this makes me sad!
I will have to make sure that in the next chapter, a certain skeleton makes sure to give Y/n the night of her life!! I'm filled with Determination!!

Aw, I didn't mean to make you sad! But in all honestly, that's kind of how the chapter made me feel. I know that feeling on Y/N's face, but it's not really defeat so much as...resigned. That's the expression I was going for. Like the minute she hears those heels on the ground, it's all over and there's no way she's getting out of this night of clubbing and socializing with SO MANY PEOPLE and ALL OF PAPYRUS' FRIENDS. Back when I was younger, that would have been my worst nightmare. Now though, I think I could tolerate something like that so long as it didn't go on forever, you know?
Anywho, I can't wait to see what you do with this next chapter! Maybe Papyrus sees how much Y/N isn't really enjoying the scene and turns it around for her, you know?
