I have a question for you: When you're drawing your characters, do you measure out the length of the body parts in comparison to another part of the body? Or do you do it based on what you think looks right?

I'm trying use measurements more often, but I usually go with what looks appealing.

Okay These tutorials are very helpful for measurements. ^^ I've noticed in several people's drawings whenever an arm is bent, the upper arm is always too long or too short. Same goes for the legs bending. I learned measurements last year in my art class, and I've drawn humans for so long I'm used to it. (but I even make mistakes) The one thing that's really helpful to know is that the human body is 7-8 heads long. My teacher always tells me 7 1/2, but a lot of people just use between 7-8. Also the hand in my opinion measures about the size of your face. The palm of your hand would take up your whole cheek. So when you need to make a fist, you can measure it against your face to see if it's the right size or not. Looking in mirrors help too ^^
