Description A Wanyudo (Wah-New-doh)
A Japanese Yokai.
According to the book Yokai Attack by Hiroko Yoda and Matt Alt, the Wanyudo's origins go way back more than a thousand years to the Heian era. When a tyrannous nobleman who was known to mistreat townspeople was assassinated in an ox drawn cart in his tour of the city. His vengeful spirit returned in the form of a flaming Ox-cart wheel with a furious human face in place of the hub.

If one finds themselves in the Wanyudo's path, one can be run down and ripped limb from limb. Plus, it steals your soul and your life if you gaze upon it. So, avert your eyes!

It only comes out at night and terrorizes the city and large residential areas.

I can highly recommend the book Yokai Attack to anyone interested in Japanese folklore and especially the odd and wonderful monsters of east Asia.

Happy Halloween everyone!
I hope you had a good Inktober this year!
