Description 'I can't buy your love, don't even wanna try.
Sometimes the truth won't make you happy, so I'm not gonna lie.
But don't ever question if my heart beats only for you, it beats only for you.

I know i'm far from perfect, nothin' like your entourage
I can't grant you any wishes, I won't promise you the stars.
But don't ever question if my heart beats only for you, it beats only for you.

Cause when you've given up.
When no matter what you do it's never good enough.
When you never thought that it could ever get this tough,
Thats when you feel my kind of love.

And when you're crying out.
When you fall and then can't pick, you're heavy on the ground
When the friends you thought you had haven't stuck around.
That's when you feel my kind of love.

You won't see me at the parties, I guess I'm just no fun...
But don't ever question if my heart beats only for you, it beats only for you.

I know sometimes I get angry, and I say what i don't mean.
I know I keep my heart protected, far away from my sleeve.

That's when you feel my kind of love.'

Emeli Sande- 'My Kind of Love' ([link] - listen to it- it is an awesome song!!)

This is a picture of my oc couple Hetta and John. This song sums up Hetta's feelings about herself and John perfectly. She's a difficult person to love, but she makes the ultimate sacrifice to save his life. She marries her enemy in order to free him from a sadistic 'Circus of Blades'. Thus, after losing each other through ill-timing and misunderstandings, they are re-united only to be parted again.
This picture is taken from my chapter of 'The Hat Trick Detective' called 'The Fall', where Hetta and John say good bye and share their first and last kiss. (I know he's better dressed at this point in the story but I had him in his rags for artistic license!)

Thank you so much- this is definitely one of my favourite pieces because of the passion and despair both in the picture and in the story behind it

Yay! I'm glad you like him as the final case (for now) that I'm working on is mainly told from his point of view

AlexandrianBreeze In reply to InkyRose [2012-06-01 14:26:31 +0000 UTC]

I started my conversion ever since Hadrian forced Hetta into marrying him. Ok, a one night fling, I can understand, but is this just plain cruel, sorry Hadrian I became interested in John's darker side, but that helped me see his qualities better. I also liked the fact that this time you used John as the main indirect narrator, it helped me see his and Hetta's world in a more balanced perspective. And the picture you drew. His hair is my definition of perfect coiffure. I really like your use of bold strokes and quick details

Ha ha! Yes, I'm head over heels in love with John and he's really intriguing to write, even I feel like he's hiding stuff from me! I'm glad you like the picture- bar the one of them dancing together- this one is my favourite of them!
Btw, what did you think of the beginning to the 'Twelve Tales'? Soz- am just super proud of the opening as I think it's the best I've ever written lol

AlexandrianBreeze In reply to InkyRose [2012-06-02 00:27:49 +0000 UTC]

I love Hetta's outfit in that one!
Sorry, I was going to send you a note in reply to the latest case, but just had a wisdom tooth pulled out ,
In my honest opinion, I think its the most thrilling opening, the prose is top-notch, and you've fitted everything in quite cinematically, and I like how you've taken the time to add extra details about the house, very atmospheric! It brings to mind the old english gothic tradition. And thank you thank you thank you for bringing Estelle back, I really wanted to see more of her... she's nuts but a pretty cool villain in my opinion: not every suspect gets to be a singing dancing actress... makes it much more theatrical! And I just realized something (a bit slow, I know), Hadrian's using of John to manipulate Hetta reminded me a bit of how the Phantom used Raoul to scare Christine into marrying him. Poor John and all those emotions...Love it! Sorry for the long comment! I'll tell you more of what I thought about this soon as my jaw is itself again

Don't apologise for your long comments! I adore reading them Oh owch! I hope your mouth will be better soon! *hugs* have loads of soup and smoothies until you're feeling up to something more solid! Sadly, that'll be the last you see of Estelle- thanks to the mention of the garrote wire, but I had to put her out of her misery- which you'll also understand from the first scene
And yes, I was always intrigued by the idea of Christine choosing the Phantom in the end of the musical as I think it would make a more controversial ending. So I decided to use that idea for this story- and as you can see from Hetta's conversation with John, it's a very dysfunctional marriage!I look forward to reading your next comment! Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks very much! That's very kind of you. I can smile (and eat) again
Garrote wire! I honestly did not know what it was. Oh...
First up, I like how you've given Hetta's world its own sense of culture and ritual with the Christmas-inspired holiday. And let's not forget the queen of burlesque-Lady Blaize is fantastic! It's nice to see a bunch of strong female characters competing for power and attention, good ol' femme fatales And that scene (my favourite), with John and Hetta and Hadrian...wow! I was really really glad you put that in...so much delicious tension! I seriously thought the men were going to exchange blows! "Unhand my wife, sir!" Favourite Hadrianism No, hang on, I hate that guy. I mean, uh, I can't make up my mind! You have made them so likeable, that even when they try so hard not to be, they become even more likeable (yes, I'm talking about you Hadrian...gonna miss that old bastard). But John is really shining now, I was happy to learn more about him, and I loved the heart/viper metaphor. I loved Joselynn and the lovely banter that goes on with the presence of Skildare and the gentry, a nice throwback to the juicy, blissfully nonsensical socialising that went on in Christie's books. And the little Revenge reference, genius! it's a great show, and I couldn't help imagining Fair Port looking like the Hamptons... Once again, I look forward to reading the next part of the case. Best of luck and have a lovely Diamond Jubilee! I know it sounds cheesy but I think its quite heart-warming that England has retained its royal traditions... sigh... carriages and coats and castles

I'm glad you picked up on the Poirot theme of a house party idea- that was partly my inspiration for this story (and Tim Burton's 'Sleepy Hollow lol)
I love Leonora too- she's fantastic fun, even if she's holding back from me at the moment and being quite aloof! I'm pleased the scene between the ongoing love triangle paid off as I was worried it was too rushed. Hadrian, yep, he's been strange to write since he got married- as Hetta says, he's made himself vulnerable for a woman who can never feel the same way, he won't allow her to please him in bed to begin with as he's so used to 'serving' he doesn't know how to be 'served'. I'm glad you love John, he's becoming dearer to me the more I write him and I'm enjoying his conversations with Roderic ever so much! Joselynn's a lioness in human form, and she's very dignified and somewhat of a challenge to write sometimes.
Thanks! The jubilee was fantastic, despite the weather. I couldn't help but be proud to be British when we saw her on the Thames and sang the national anthem- go queenie!
I'm so glad you're feeling better! *hugs*
