I saw this drawing nad it absolutely blew e away. There is so much going on that it is taking me quite while to absorb, however I do not think I will be ever ableto understand it complitely. However here is what it makes me feel.

I like how the image is blurry, and that the faint background looks like it is consuming the drummer, as if the haze is engulfing him, he is being lost in the rythm of his drum, in his song, in his thoughts. The whole world does not matter to him, he is the creator of his own world, his song, he drums the beat everything else moves to. He is continuing the dying tradition, dressed in his folklore outfit, however he still stands tall.

I wanted to ask about the writing in the background. What it is about? Even though it is faded i am drawn to it. It reminds me of the oral epic poems passed down amongst people being slowly forgotten in the world that does not have time for them.

Anyhow well done. I am trully impressed.

whoa. i knew i needed a new favourite. i like the colour scheme in this one...understated, with garish yellow and blue highlights. beautiful...so much implied detail.

Aw...thank you ^_^...you know...I try to mix realistic figures with the abstract expressionistic backgrounds...I just like it.
Your uncle is right...but it's so difficult to make different all parts of the painting...really

yay! i'm glad you've posted again, i needed my ~inner fix!

I like this one especially, because it's not entirely your style. It's different...more realistic proportions, thicker strokes, etc. I love the contrast in the face and the pose. Very lively.

Two cents: my uncle is a semi-famous fine artist who was exhibited on the cover of time magazine a few years ago. he told me that it's usually a good idea to not make all the corners of a painting similar--make them all look different, unless it interferes with the composition. i think you did a fine job of that here.

do you ever put your figures in a full environment? i've only seen partial environments, and abstract backgrounds. which is just fine with me!
