I was planing to draw them as fillies but in the end they are too grown up to be fillies but too childish looking to be their actual age...so let's just say they are at some point in the middle.
I love how different these two are.
Edit: I didn't plan this as a AjxRarity drawing, it is just a funny moment with the two of them for me, but feel free to see it as whatever you want (:

This is adorable. Also, did you know Applejack holds the tail grabbing record in first season? 9 tail grabs. Oddly enough, none of them Rarity. (But 2/3rds were Rainbow Dash.)

Rainbow Dash goes on vacation and in less than two days Applejack can't get by without a tail in her mouth. I'm starting to think she has some comfort issue, perhaps short of a true fetish, about holding onto others' tails. Perhaps when she was a foal she got lost in the dark and, when her father found her, told Applejack to hold his tail like that all the way home. Applejack's expression doesn't even seem to have any purpose other, so I think the "security blanket" thing is viable.
But oh well, either way the ponies are cute, and Rarity's indignant pose and face make the scene perfect, even against the ideally beautiful day.

I agree. Also, Applejack already managed to damage Rarity tail. Once straight her tail is much longer that this. She looks that size because she is so curly. Just look at the "Look before you sleep" episode when she when under the rain again. Her tail is so long it must be a pain to maintain it.
