I decided I’m going to keep Dari. The odd thing is… well I like her. She gives me something to think about while I’m painting the apartments for dad. Plus she has a lot less to do with Zuko and more to do with her now. (That and I just like these drawings)

So this is Dari, and her "brother" Zinn. The entire thing starts with them.

Dari has run away from home because she's against the war and against how she's treated as a woman. (She’s about 18-19 years old. What‘s expected of her is to: “sit and look pretty until you’re old enough to marry. Then marry some man of status, make babies of status, and sit and look pretty some more while your husband fights in the war.) She’s walking through the woods in the earth kingdom when she comes to a completely burnt village. But in the middle of the village is a 7 year old boy with a scar on his cheek. She cares for him and when he finally wakes up; she sees that his eyes are hazel.
This is a big deal for Dari because she has hazel eyes and everyone in the fire nation hands gold or grey eyes. She adopts him as her brother and takes him with her to Ba-sing-se. (she’s a going there because she knows that at least the fire nation won't find her there and make
her go back home)
