NOMMO

The Dogon tribe of Mali have known about the invisible star, Sirius B, for longer than the invention of the telescope. That is because a race of amphibious merpeople, called the nommo, who come from a watery planet in the Sirius star system, visited them long ago. They also appear in the mythology of Babylon, Accadia and Sumeria. The nommo are slow moving creatures who can live both in the water, with the use of a blow hole, and on land, standing upright on their tails.

ORIGINS: The nommo are believed to be the evolved species of the first living creatures created by the sky god Amma.They are hermaphrodites, a trait sometimes referred to as their “twinness,” who left their dying planet and have come to earth hoping to interbreed with humans so that their race could now survive on our planet.

HOME: The nommo home planet is very hot, given its orbiting of two major stars, and because it is covered almost entirely in water, that makes it very steamy as well.

ITEMS: They arrive on earth in a massive space ship.

MAGIC: Reincarnation plays a big role in the nommo's lives as they retain their memories from their past lives. It therefore acts as a form of immortality for them.

TEMPERAMENT: The nommo are generally very generous, given that they have come to earth seeking desperate aid to continue their existence. They share with humans knowledge of the universe, and are even willing to give up their physical bodies as food when it is necessary. They value their twinness, and gave up their endeavor to mix their DNA with that of humans when the results rendered male-only nommo whom were deemed without a soul and incomplete.
