Description
Here's another request by someone form the Quizup App.Anyone seen the movie, Wish Maker? Its not my favorite movie but I always cherished the song at the end.
So I've drawn Jirachi before, so I really wanted to push myself to come up with a better drawing than what I did previously. I feel I accomplished that
For this piece I used pencils, colored pencils and a very small amount of Photoshop editing to produce a little bit of a glow effect.

It is very nice. I have plush of this Pokemon and it looks just like it. It reminds of the movie it starred in. I love the song at the end. It reminds me how we can all make dreams and wishes come true if we keep on trying and never give up. It is very sweet, adorable and imaginative. I love the way the moon glows. Jirachi looks so happy and like it is having fun. This is a wonderful picture. It truly is a one of a kind picture. I just love it. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! I was totally thinking about that song in the end when I made this piece. I love that lullaby, it keeps my hopes up in dark times. That's the kind of impression I wanted Jirachi to have a cheerful, hopeful and optimistic kind of feeling. I appreciate the critique very much, thank you again

You made an adorable art piece. With Jirachi, the wish granting Pokemon, it's kind of expected that he would look as adorable as fan art as he would on television or in films. It's honestly, a great art piece that you have done and I know that this would make you a great artist on this website. With Detective Pikachu, the first live action Pokemon movie coming out, this critique describing how good your Jirachi piece is would be considered appropriate. I hope you do more splendid pieces on deviantART. You'll make a lot of people happy that way! Kudos!

Always lovely to see people trying to push themselves more based upon older drawings. It's the way to get better at your craft and seeing how far you've come can be a big motivational factor!
I would definitely say that you improved from your earlier drawing; the drawing is composed way more interestingly. The framing adds a nice effect and I like the little touch of the clouds drifting out of the frame.Β
I think you did a great job in showing Jirachi's body in perspective, maybe a bit more extreme foreshortening could add even more effect to it. However, I feel like it's somewhat diminished by the way his yellow tails (?) are angled. I think you could've placed those better in perspective, currently they are too parallel to one another and it takes away from how you designed Jirachi's body.Β
I quite like the glow effect you added to make the moon shine a bit more. Something I think you could improve upon next time, is to also add a bit more darkness. Glowing always comes from contrast and if your darker values are too light your shining effect will be weaker. I think you could've made your clouds a bit darker and added some shadows from the moonlight on Jirachi. I know there's a bit of that on his yellow parts, but even that is more a hue shift than a darker value. By keeping your lightest values moderate you keep them special and allow them to shine more brightly. At the moment the moon, Jirachi and the clouds are all among the same value. This makes them all about the same in terms of lightness and spreads out the viewer's interest amongst them, not allowing any to truly jump out. Also the whiteness around your frame adds to the same problem.Β
I also feel like the placement of his eyes is just a bit off; based on the perspective of his body, I would imagine his head would be angled with the top towards us and the bottom of his head away from us. If that were the case I would imagine his eyes to be angled the other way around, to have them farther away from each other at the top and closer at the bottom, as in simple 1-point perspective.Β
I hope these points didn't come across as too harsh, I really love your piece and I can really see that you pushed yourself with this image. I hope you'll find my pointers helpful in improving further!

Even though Jirachi is a misunderstood Pokemon (Must beΒ Β because he asks for wishes and has nothing of the Β clearly), I love the cute and adorable drawing you did
From Jirachi's appearance to the fact that the frame placed makes it look like a photo. The multiple colors and intensity imposed gives a lunar illumination with total naturalness, just see the moon illuminating the sky.
This Pokemon drawing is great. Very cool, being the only hit, but it is more personal: Jirachi is not a Pokemon that I like so much. About tastes there is nothing clearly written, and clearly missing that detail, you did a great drawing and it shows that you love Pokemon, like me

Yes! Haha, I do love pokemon, probably draw too much of it. I appreciate the commentary though! Its good to know what people think of my work, and I thought the colors were a challenge to get them as vibrant as vibrant as I pictured it in my mind. Also I like to believe the steel comes from being part of the cosmos. Like a comet. Also how it sleeps in a tough crystalline shell for thousand years, but that's just me. I can understand why you'd say it should be a fairy type.

Not only because of its appearance, but it is the "Wish Fairy". The desires have magical providence and the Fairy is supposed to be where the magic comes from. In addition to that Jirachi went down to "Ameba Groudon" (The one of the 6th Movie and that if it was not stopped, it would become his Primal form and there would be the end of Hoenn with two Groudons)Β

I don't think they would change any part of jirachi's typing also due to the psychic typing it has is consistent with all pokemon that have something to do with the cosmos or space are psychic types.. Deoxys, Lunala, Solgaleo, Cresselia. And maybe it's just for shits and giggles. you got me there with Rayquaza, but it was primal forms that bothered me since it seemed less explained than mega evolution..Β It is a bit inconsistent but what can we do? :/
Also that Groudon wasn't actually a real Grondon but some other kind of monster created my Jirachi's psychic energy to do the opposite of what Jirachi does, which is to release energy to the earth. This thing, instead sapped that energy away causing everything in its surroundings to die.

The Primal Form it is the true power of a legendary major, the one who has immense power since creation, but also drives them crazy for that amount of pure power. In fact, when they created the land and the sea, Groudon and Kyroge lost too much power that they were restricted to the forms that we know the most.
But that power went to a stone that if you put it, activate Primogenio power to both legendary and would come to do as a "Key Stone", but instantaneous.
Rayquaza should have that form, but it must be so much power that he would also go crazy. For that reason, the inhabitants decided to look for an alternative in which it was "Mega-Evolving". I'm sure of that.
Now my life make sense! xD
