Well, here's another take. I took out the train, simplified the duct tape and changed the background. Hope you like.Again, excellent stock portrait courtesy of =Swordexpert-stock .

honestly, now I think the first version works better . The greater contrast on the tape is more interesting to look at. Maybe the problem with the first image is the white gradient.

Ah, who knows. I don't really have enough experience with visual art to fully predict the effects of the choices I make, and then when I change things I usually get frustrated and think 'Bah! Whatever, it's good enough.' But the experiment is valid either way, I guess.

Yeah. I've got another coming which I'm even happier with ... I just have to finish the @%^@ing facial hair. Yay for experimentation.

maybe I should get a copy of illustrator to you. It's certainly better at vectors -- and has a handy vector object spray tool which would make things like facial hair faster.

Yeah I downloaded Illustrator ... I just haven't had the energy to learn to use it yet. I really need to sit down and play around with it to familiarise myself, because these are definitely moments where it would come in handy. I suppose I could convert the current .psd and then just do the facial hair in illustrator ...

yeh, illustrator is a real pain to learn. Luckily for me, one of our assignments last year was to make a photoreal image of a watch in illustrator. Actually doing it was brutal, but now I know all kinds of handy tricks.

Yeah, It's about putting in the time I guess. I might look up some tutes and try and get some practice with it.
