I like how the cross hatching looks to fill out the stone. I'm going to emulate your technique for my next game map.

I've been experimenting with it on my last map and I like this effect the most. Although it's such a hassle to do it in the end it looks great

Yep, looks time consuming, but a great result. I just found these 11X17 sheets of paper at work today, decent amount of tooth and paper weight, just beggin' for a map to be drawn on them.

it really takes time and at the end my hand was aching but I loved the result but I do this in photoshop

I bet! I don't know how to use Photoshop, unfortunately, or I'd do my own maps.
