Description
It was a cool night in the vast desert that was known as Ancient Egypt. There was an eerie silence that seemed to have been plaguing the land during the last few days, everyone noticed it; even the animals began to panic and flee from their stables running to the barren desert to the south. This went on for days, even the great Pharaoh of the land began to feel uneasy; fearing for his city he called upon his army and set up posts around his city keeping a constant lookout for anything that seemed out of the ordinary. Finally the anticipation ended on the seventh night of the seventh day, soldiers on the north posts of town saw nearly 50 glowing spheres in the distance and before they realized what was happening it was too late. The battle begun.A huge army to the north opened fire, their trebuchets launching huge boulders into the city as the infantry marched ever closer to the city. Wave after Wave of this barrage came for hours on end devastating the beautiful city that was Egypt. Screams were echoing out over the desert as civilians ran for their lives, many falling victim to the barrage laying dead in the streets, few made it out of the city to the south running to what they knew was certain death in the rough, unforgiving land that was ahead of them. Little did they know, 5000 soldiers of the attacking army had moved to the southern flank of the city knowing this to be the only escape they could use. Those that made it out of the city were soon captured and held captive.
The Pharaoh still lived, he had called upon a meeting deep underground in a ceremonial chamber meeting with the elders and calling upon the aid of their top assassin, the goddess, Dolor Decorus. The meeting began and the Pharaoh called upon Misery’s service to the city to fight back, she was known to be a brutal warrior who utilized methods which were eerily efficient. The elders advised against it, fearing the power that the Goddess held, they refused to allow this demon to be the last resort of Egypt. Misery stood coolly against a wall in a corner, her form shrouded in shadows. The Pharaoh silenced the elders and approached Misery slowly, leaning in and pleading for her aid. The angry elders in the background talking quietly amongst themselves, glancing over at Misery and the Pharaoh before unsheathing their blades and surrounding the two in the corner. Misery threw the Pharaoh behind her as she stepped out from the shadows, she uncoiled a long single tailed whip with a hook on the end and a blade that ran the length of the whip on one side and snapped it a few times making the elders jump back, the old men began to back away but it was too late, the had made a grave mistake…they had threatened the Cambion and would soon suffer for their mistake. The whip lashed out wrapping around the neck of one of the elders, blood began to trickle down his neck when the other elders charged Misery. She pulled the whip towards her, tearing the elders head off and she turned lashing the whip around, the hook catching an elder in the throat and severed his arteries and airway, he gasped for air but none came and he soon fell to the ground. Two elders left now, Misery lashed at one, the whip slicing off his skin from his elbow to his wrist, he fell in pain, Misery walked up to him taking his blade and sinking it into his neck vertically, slicing through his airway before reaching his spinal cord, she twisted the blade and severed his vertebra and she stood up, coiling up her whip as she closed in on the last elder. She placed the whip on her waist and bared her claws, Misery grabbed him around his throat lifting him off the ground, smirking as he gasped for air. The elder, in a last effort, swiped at her with his dagger and cut her arm. Misery looked at her arm before throwing him across the room. She picked up his dropped blade and pulled the elder up by his hair and pressed the tip of the dagger up underneath his chin, she very slowly pushed it up as it cut through his skin, going through his tongue, and finally sticking into the top of his mouth, then in a cruel act of brutality she stabbed into his neck with her claws literally ripping his throat out before dropping him. She licked the blood off of her claws as Misery turned to the Pharaoh before saying quietly, “I will avenge your city.” Misery then turned her back and walked out, moving through the tunnels until she reached the surface.
