I was thinking the other day, that "Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead" is basically, "No One Mourns the Wicked", but for Nessa. Then I was thinking, wow, Nessa really got the shaft there. No offense to whoever wrote the music for The Wizard of Oz (and it does fit the mood of that movie) but I really think No One Mourns the Wicked is a better song.

Prepare for rant mode.

Plus, in WOO (lol) they just sing a little song about Nessa dying then go back to worrying about Elphie When Elphie dies, she gets a huge celebration, a kickass operatic solo from Kristen Chenoweth Glinda (technically there was one at Nessa's death, but it was more because of Dorothy ("...Come out, come out, wherever you are, and meet the young lady who fell from a star...")) and then Glinda goes on to do a whole grand tale of how she knew Elphie.

So looking down on this from heaven/hell/afterlife/whatever you wanna call it of course Elphie'd take the chance to brag a little. She doesn't have much to hold over Nessa. Aside from having arms.

I kinda wish the relationship between Elphaba and Nessa had been explored a little more. Not that I don't like the awesome Gelphie-ness that they spend time on. But I think Nessa's a pretty interesting character who should have been shown a bit more (although that's my opinion on nearly every character in Wicked! I can't get enough of any of them)
