not bad, but needs a lot more contrast! I can't see any difference between the hair colors. Perhaps start with a lighter color, never go with pure gray! If you don't use gray then you can create more contrast between colors. A dark purple for her hair (not enough to make it unnatural-looking) could be shaded to darker blue and highlighted to red, for instance. Feel free to experiment!

Yeah i've been told it's too dark and I see it for myself as well. I'm still on the fence about the whole using purples and blues,etc.. because most peoples hair. Unless dyed, doesnt have color's like that in them.

It's really good!
I just can't see the shading or highlights well enough.
Don't be too scared to make highlights lighter and shadows darker. ^^
All the same, well done. ^^

that and I guess I could do with some brighter highlights. I can't go any darker with the shadows or they'll be black

Well usually you can see them better because I contrast with darker colors. I'm not use to doing brighter colors like this.
Haha I was thinking during the whole time I was making this if I need to maybe make a darker background for the colors to be seen better

Ahh, I see. ^^
Well, you can't really see(Well, /I/ can't really see) the the shades, though it is blended very nicely. It appears to be only one shade, and you've made it too close to tell the difference.
^^
I'm not trying to be mean, just helping. ^^
Okay, yes, try to be lighter with the base and highlight colour.
There's no point putting in so much effort only to be seen as one shade, or one highlight. You're good, but you need to experiment more. ^^ Okay?
I have faith that you'll be fantastic ~!

I'll admit,i've been hesitant to use brighter colors due to the fact that EVERYONE Uses colors so bright trying to get the blend too look right and I just don't like that style. I'll try and experiment a bit more though like you said.

Well, I'll say that trying to stay away from the herd is a good idea, but, branching out, til you get a style you like and looks great is fantastic~!
I'm not the best doller out there, but I love the style of hair I do. ^^ So, I just continue to perfect it.
But, of course, you can stay with your style, just, maybe make the shades a shade or two lighter than the current one. Oh, and if you want too, do not hesitate to hide my comments. I'm just helping.
But, I like your style. So, yes! ^^ Experiment, you don't even have to post up the experiments.
Of course if there is anything else you'd like to know, do not hesitate to ask me. Of course, if you'd prefer someone better than me, I know that a lot of dollers are willing to help. You just need to ask. ^^

haha stop being so frightened(or whatever the word is, its too late for me to think of the word i need too x.X) I'm not gonna hide your comments. I'm not mad, it's just helpful criticism because your not being a jerk about.
I'll try and mess around with shading and stuff. I've been working on my drawing stuff so I havent had a lot of time to explore anything. Which is why i've just stuck to the way I've been doing them

Sorry, this is probably the first time I've done this.
I'm glad.
Yea, I understand that. ^^ Just go with the flow. ^^ Learn from mistakes. ^^ You'll be fine~

It's no problem. I'll be sure to experiment a bit more with different shadings when I get the time to actually pixel. I rarely do it anymore because I'm trying to practice more with my personal drawing.

^^ Of course~~
Ahh, I still pixel, without bases. Bases really helped me learn the forms and shapes at little better. ^^ Here: [link]
I just posted that up last night. Though it's not the best thing, I did that purely with a mouse. ^^
Pixel art doesn't just have to sit with bases. Never forget that. ^^
And good luck with your drawings. Send me a link of one of your experiments, okay? I'd love to see. ^^

THANK YOU!!! Finally! someone understands what I mean by base's helped me with my art! I tell that to people and they don't believe me or they don't see how using a base could!
Alright, Will do.
I like the way you pixel hair, but my thing is. How do you know what kind of color it is? I mean, it works when you use a lighter hair color like you did with the orange your base, but when your using darker hair color's like the one's I usually use. It's hard to differentiate whether it's(ex.) dark brown, light brown,or medium brown when you have to use such drastic coloring. You can really only label it brown unless your using a cardboard brown base color I'm stuck on that

You get that a lot then, huh..
I'm here to back you up. And, just leave them to think that. It's what I used to be told by my friend (who is currently in art school) tracing an image/object is one way of learning. That. Is how I learnt. Using bases. ^^
^^ Good. You know what dear? I'll watch you.
Ahh, see, if you look at any hair, you can tell. Black, and dark brown are hard to get a better understanding on.
For example: (Sorry that it's a bad example, this is the only brown I use, I can make a darker one for you) [link] [link] it depends on which part of the 'palette' you are picking your colours. (Here's a black: [link] ) But, I still think that, it's the shades that make the colour (brown) more brown, or more seen as brown.... OTL I think that makes no sense... Anyway, you see the black one, and how, although I have bright highlights, of course, you can be as light or dark there as you like. It all comes from learning, and practising. If this would be easier, I'll make a colour tutorial for you?

Thank You, and yes that would be helpful.
I see your point with your browns and black's, but it's still got my problem of the black and brown's being too light. [link] , Under the bang's over this one(color wise) are what I usually start out with because If I go any lighter it makes the hair color look more grey the black. It's strange because blacks and browns are the only thing's I've had trouble with because sometimes they stand out, and sometimes they dont.
Like in this base: [link] my browns stand out more, but still remain dark. Maybe It's because my base color is a bit TOO dark?

^^ Okay. Will do~
Yea? OTL Sorry... oh! Here: [link] you need to have some highlights.
OH! And if you find it difficult still, then look at real pictures (examples: [link] [link] [link] ) you'll see that they have a shine and appear 'lighter'. If you don't like the grey appearance, then move the colour picker thingy, along to the most saturated red/blue/pink/green/etc (I used maroon-y purple here: [link] ) That links me to a folder.
Sorry, I can't see it to inform you.
