Description Cirque du soleil birdy guy. I was listening to my Cirque CD and decided to draw this.
I'm proud of how it turned out! I hope I captured the gracefulness of this character..

Char. description: The Firebird leaps even higher in his futile
attempt to take to the skies. Still convinced he
can fly, he struggles against his fate.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't seen this one yet. O_o Anyways, I'm so happy to see the male version of the Firebird, because all the pictures I have found up until now are the female one. I'm not saying that she's bad, but I like the guy a tiny bit better. I love the colors!

Ross Gibson!!! Me loves him.

Nice interpretation of him! I met him during CirqueCon 2006 in September. We kissed randomly for the official convention photographer! *laughs* (and I have the link to prove it! [link] hotoID=103) In any case, he's a wonderful guy and it's nice to see some work with him in it, since the original Firebird was a female and there aren't many official pictures of Ross out there. ^_^

Yay! Me too! You're so lucky you got to meet him and even kissed! That's an awesome picture--wish I could have gone to Cirquecon too. Btw do you know who's playing Brian Le Petit there and who played Moha-Samedi on your show? I love all those characters. I was asking about Moha because I saw the show again over the summer and the guy who played Moha wasn't William Amaral, it was this guy who looked like Nicky Dewhurst--He was really great but didn't have as much enthusiasm as Nicky--He definitely had more energy for the part than William though. Wish I could find out who it was. XD

Anyways, I've seen Ross perform 3 times already and he's really an amazing acrobat and his character has such a cute personality. I'd love to draw him again..and see Mystere again! It's my favorite Cirque show.

Ai! I don't know who played either of them! *sorries!* I noticed that Brian Le Petit was a different guy that night... but I still haven't gotten his name.

Yeah... I've seen Mystere twice and Ross was in it both times. When I met him and he signed my drawing for CirqueCon, he asked if I could do some specialty pieces of his character. I told him I'd be happy to if he would send me some photos of his costume and such (so I could do a detailed job). Unfortunately, he hasn't responded to my e-mails. *shrugs* I'll have to send another one tonight, now that I'm thinking of it. ^_^

My favourite Cirque show... It's probably a tie between Mystere and Varekai... though I still really love "O" and Quidam was wonderful when I saw it live recently. *laughs* So many to choose from!

Aw, it's alright, no one on Cirque tribune seems to know either.
I'd love to see your pieces of Ross' character! Has he responded to you yet? I'd like to see more photos of his costume too. XD I have more pictures of him that I can e-mail you if you'd like.

Yeah, its hard to choose when all the Cirque shows are so good and all very different.

Lovely depiction! Love how you faded the sides of your pic to give a sense of the vertical direction our Firebird wants to go sky bound. ^^ Face paint and feathers are awesome! And great pose! *^o^*b

Awww Bee! This came out so well! I just love how you ended up constructing the costume here. We were supposed to go to Vegas earlier this month to see the show, but alas we never got down there. Perhaps int he future. *giggles*

I really love that costume. I really like the red. Then again I've always been a nut over anything red (or yellow!) *ponders how Wally would look in the costme* Hmmm....

WAIII when I went to Vegas and saw this show, I was sitting in the audience and this guy crawled out of the show and into the audience and was jumping up in front of ppl scaring them. I was watching the show when I look over and my mom was just grinning at me like an idiot and I look up and the guy is standing on my seat staring down at me and he lets out this 'squak' and I scream and jump about five feet and he laughed and 'flew' off. OMG it was the coolest thing in the world (and what made me want to become a Make-up artist. I would love to work for these ppl ^^ GREAT PIC! WAIII

LOL! That is so cool and funny! So glad you saw the show too. XD Did you see the part where the clown shoots him and there were red feathers flying everywhere? That was hilarious. He was an awesome acrobat too. His moves were flawless.
That's kewl you wanna become a makeup artist! I love how they do the makeup on Cirque. So pretty!
