Just: It's a little embarrassing to talk about, but the space habitat we're living on is currently going through a bit of a demographic crisis. Most of the population changed over to artificial bodies that aren't reproductively compatible, and since not many groups were interested in making people manually, the habitat's population was gradually declining as people moved away or managed to get themselves perma-killed.

Catherine: So the government put out a design competition for a new citizen template, fit for mass production. We have some of the leading experts on the subject of artificial people on the habitat, so we're entering a design into the contest.

Just: This blue-skinned girl here is Pearl, our technology demonstrator. Also technically my grandkid, since Cat handled most of the design work on her mental architecture. We haven't quite booted her up yet; we want to make absolutely sure she won't have any unfortunate ailments before we bring her to life.

Dully: We have a whole checklist for my niece's well-being. We're being thorough with this.
