Honestly I'm not 100% sure myself. My sister got me into it after she read cute fanfiction and the rest is history.
As for everybody else, I think there is a part of the community where it's the whole 'rivals can= lovers' with time thing... I dunno.
I just guess some people think their interactions as a romantic couple would be fun.
I started out doing my pictures mostly for my sister, and cause I liked it a little, but I don't take it too seriously.
