The rest of the week was stressful for the students enrolled to 1-A. Preparations for the Sports Festival halted, opening the next week with the Festival itself.
feral_queer: hey man!!1 its gotta b super early in da morning rn so srry byt good luck on dat sports festival thing!!!!!
me: It’s only 8AM right now, so it isn’t too early. How do you know about the Sports Festival?
feral_queer: i saw it on da news!! i think lisura said smthn bout it 2 but id rmbr.
me: Thank you for the good grace; I’m not allowed to participate. Neither are any of the other transfer students, however.
feral_queer: aaaaa ok that makes sense. u only got dere recentl so it wudnt b fair
feral_queer: ill still watch to see if i can see u on da tv doe!!!
me: I’ll talk to you here soon, Einar.
After receiving an onslaught of emojis, (Name) pocketed his device. Looking up, he spotted all his male counterparts dressing in the UA gym uniforms. Having to help Kaminari when he had somehow accidentally put his on backwards. His peers laughed at him, but the blond thanked (Name) anyways. Missing the pink hue to Kaminari’s ears, (Name) looked up when Hizashi came through the doors.
“Hey there, little listeners! Just wanted to say good luck to all of you today! Can’t wait to see what you all do today!”
“Thank you, Present Mic-Sensei!”
“Oh! (Name)! Put on your hero costume! You’re gonna be in the press box with me today!”
“Huh?” Unable to fight the question, (Name) looked at his caretaker.
“Yeah! Gotta get the best seats to the show! Meet me outside!”
Feeling all of his fellow students look at him, (Name) felt his hands heat up. Turning to look at his locker, it was unlocked to reveal the hero suit the Support department had finished developing for him. Kirishima and Sero peered inside like they did that unfateful day.
“Oh! I wanna see!” Kaminari tried to look over his tall friends.
Releasing some stored heat, the boys suddenly backed away.
“Do not surround me.”
“Sorry.”
“Sorry, bro.”
Grabbing the new costume, he began donning the fresh attire. Starting the outfit was the white tactical suit (Name) requested. Something that was quick to slip on, once he was inside the loose suit, it fitted to his body as though it were a second skin. Between the protective plates were small gaps that allowed ventilation from the skin-tight suit; made to prevent the Dane from overheating. There was even an additional vent on the nape of (Name)’s neck—activated by using a button from his wrist in case of an overheat.
The suit was covered up by a second layer of clothing. A tight field blouse, buttoned from his chest to rib cage, was added. Navy in colour—the darker colour helped (Name) retain more heat for his Quirk. Simple trousers were added next. Ending with the bottom of the hero costume are heavy boots designed with two adjustable straps at the side. While inside, near the toes, were steel covers. Effectively granting protection for the (Name)’s feet.
(Name) noticed some of his original designs didn’t translate as well as he hoped they would. Not bothered by it, the boots were finished strapped on. The weight of the footwear grounded him, making him feel like he was in his own skin again.
“Woah! You look amazing, (Name)!” Kirishima was loud beside him, “you look super cool!”
“Thank you, Kirishima,” (Name) nodded, fixing one of his gloves. Because he was focused on his own self, he couldn’t see Kirishima’s red ears.
Other students paid his compliments to the Dane who responded as best he could. A part of him felt butterflies in his stomach as his neck burned. Rubbing it with a free hand, he was surprised to feel it chilled. Knowing it was a sign of him being flustered, he didn’t enjoy feeling the emotion.
“Good luck to you all. I’ll be watching from above.”
“See ya, (Name)! And thank you!” Midoriya and Iida waved him away.
(Name) and Bakugou caught gazes, but nothing stirred from it. Bakugou was looking him up and down, as though inspecting his outfit. His ruby gaze was just as intense as it was during that short training exercise from before. Ignoring the explosive blond, (Name) left in order to meet with Hizashi.
“Wooooow! You look amazing~” Hizashi commented the second he saw his student, “you look like you can do heavy damage with that suit! Looking like a proper badass!”
“I stemmed some inspiration from your own hero costume,” gesturing at the thick boots he wore. They had a definite ‘rocker’ style to them. Hizashi gasped at this detail.
“You’re amazing.”
The two approached the pressbox. Being stopped by a teacher, Hizashi excused him and (Name) through the man. Allowing the boy explore the screens and sound equipment for a moment,
“Be careful with looking down. It scared me the first time I did it.”
Not listening to his elder, (Name) got a feeling in the pit of his stomach, It wasn’t a bad feeling. It made him feel giddy. Electric. Pausing to take a photo (Name) sent it to Einar. Hizahi found his student with a wide smile. One he’s never seen before. It was adorable and nearly brought the adult to a tear.
“Morning, Shouta!”
“Morning,” the tired drone of his homeroom teacher reached (Name)’s ears, “so I see he’s convinced you to this torture.”
“Whaaat? It’s not torture!”
^When Shouta saw his student and his costume, he was stunned silent for a second.
Instead of creating heroes: Drolbel is making soldiers.
“Is the suit to your liking?” Ignoring Hizashi, Shouta turned to look at his student.
“Some details were lost in translation, but I do like it, yes. The key components of my suit were included. Only a few, minor details involving appearance were misunderstood. So as long as it helps me store and concentrate my heatwaves, I will be fine with anything.”
“I remember overhearing the difficult pattern your glove had. Was it designed at Drolbel, or was that our doing?”
“It was my own. I designed it to allow heat to escape, but have it build up as well. The polypropylene lining around my palm helps me from getting too sweaty and getting overheated and steaming up. It is flammable, so I had to account for the build-up of steam that could eventually cause a flame. I know polyester and a polypropylene mixed fabric seems strange, but it proves to be the best temperature-keeping glove material that still allows for me to breathe. That’s why I have it in a wicker pattern.” The adults gave an approving nod to the explanation.
“It’s definitely thought-out. It’s a good idea as well.”
After catching up, he three seated themselves at the glass shield. (Name)’s hand touched the bracelet Rinny had previously stolen. He decided to wear it from now-on. It was important for him for a reason unbeknownst to him—he wished to find out.
“Mic check- Hi Cementoss!” Hizashi spoke into the microphone.
Said Pro Hero, who was making the arena for the Festival, looked up. Finding the blond waving at him, Cementoss waved back before continuing his work.
“Oh, hey, little listener- do you know what the stones are in your bracelet?”
“All I know is that the green one is an emerald. Coincidentally, it happens to be my birthstone.” (Name) answered.
“Emerald, huh? And it’s your birthstone… Wait- is your birthday this month?”
“Yes. It’s the 11th of May.”
“YOUR BIRTHDAY IS NEXT WEEK?! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME SOONER, (NAME)?!”
Both (Name) and Shouta winced at the volume. The microphone even gave some feedback. It definitely picked up Hizashi’s surprise, though.
“Your volume, Hizashi,” Shouta warned. “I nearly forgot myself, I’ll admit. Is there anything you want to do for your birthday? You’ll be sixteen; a big age.”
“I haven’t given it much thought, to be honest.” Speaking the truth, (Name) pulled out his phone. Of which was buzzing with a flood of incoming messages. They all had the same topic.
‘Your birthday is next week?’
Allowing the lull of his head, it was thrown back as he tried to read all his messages. The LINE groupchat he was added to by Sero was the busiest. They were planning a party for him. (They must not remember he was in the chat.) When Hizashi asked what was wrong, he showed a sliver of the messages received. An apology left Hizashi. Shouta reached over and finally deactivated the power of the microphone to prevent the blond from slipping any more information to everyone.
“So, what do you want to do for your birthday? How were they celebrated back home?” Shouta asked. The boy took only a moment before answering.
“Well, I would have a small 1kagemand. It’s… ehm… a cake… man?” (Name) tried to figure out the translation. He had a cute tone to his voice as he attempted to make sense of it.
“Show me what it looks like! I can try to make it!”
“Hizashi will not be allowed to attempt to make it.”
Hizashi called out on Shouta’s rudeness as (Name) began typing in his search. Mumbling in native tongue, he waited for his cellular data to load the image before showing it to the two adults. The both were surprised at the Gingerbread man-shaped cake embellished with many sweets and frosting.
“You sing and after that, you chop off his head!” (Name) rather cheerily.
“What a strange tradition! I love it!” HIzashi smiled. Shouta took (Name)’s phone to inspect the cake closer.
“I could see if the local bakery could help me with it,” returning the device, Shouta added it to his to-do list section of his notes on his own phone.
“We don’t have to do anything for my birthday. Please, don’t trouble yourself with it.”
“You only get one 16th birthday, (Name).” Shota commented, “we could always do something small, like a movie or game night.”
“Yeah! Or you can invite all your friends over!”
What friends?
(Name) paused—but for just a brief moment before giving a nod. Wanting to get off the topic.
“We’re about to start! Get ready for the show, (Name)!” Hizashi jumped up to his feet.
After the many introductions, (Name) looked at his phone for the moment. Seeing Einar had sent him a message, he pulled it up. It was a live screenshot of (Name), Shouta, and Hizashi in the press box.
Watching as his fellow students started their trials, (Name) watched with a hidden excitement in his eyes. Half-listening to what Hizashi spoke about. Because of his lifestyle at Drolbel Academy, (Name) had never participated or seen anything to this degree. It was amazing to the Dane. Feeling his own excitement for his friends in the class, he hoped everything would go smoothly. His gaze found a few people in the middle of the rush: Kirishima, Iida, Bakugou (being loud), Midoriya, and Yaoyorozu. Wondering how Kirishima got such a jump in the beginning. Nonetheless, (Name) mentally cheered for all of his classmates. Hoping they get the attention they were deserving.

“Midoriya is pretty crafty…”
(Name) commented, watching him come first from the obstacle course. The use of the discarded metal from the zero-point bots worked excellently for the green-haired boy.
“Now he has a target painted onto him, however. Midoriya doesn’t do well with too much attention as well. I wonder if he will crash and burn? Typically, those who make the biggest flash in the beginning end up coming short by the end. Hope he fares well.”
Watching as the teams got together, (Name) observed as Iida walked away from Uraraka and Midoriya. He was taking this seriously. The Dane was slightly aware of how important this event was. Spotting the expression on the cobalt-haired teen told him he was correct. Tapping a finger to his chin, (Name) wondered how the cavalry battle would end.
His sweeping gaze caught the purple-haired student he’d bumped into twice within the recent days. If he recalled correctly, he was a General Studies student wanting to be transferred to the Hero Department after the Sports Festival is over. There seemed to be a strange look to the men who were a part of his horse, however. Could it have been a quirk of some kind?
Evaluating the performances of his fellow classmates, he listened to the commentary given by Hizashi and Midnight. Sitting in relative silence beside Shouta, he’d only reacted when Bakugou was bested by Monoma, or when Midoriya’s points were stolen by Todoroki. UA was a very intense school. Lisura wasn’t lying, for once.
Once the Cavalry was over, a breath escaped (Name)—one he didn’t know he held. Sagging in his seat, the Dane looked at the students and audience funnel out of the stadium for the hour lunch. Despite Aizawa’s claim to take a nap when asked for lunch, Hizashi and the 1-A teacher left together. (Name) was offered to congratulate his peers on their performances. Nodding to his caretakers, he left to do just that. Walking to the exit, he paused upon hearing two voices. Hanging to the wall, he could just hear the voices of fellow students; more specifically Midoriya and Todoroki. Hearing a rather serious tone, he’d decided not to interrupt the scene. Waiting at the external wall, he checked Einar’s latest message.
“Quirk Marriages. Have you heard of them?”
Jolting when hearing the phrase, (Name) already knew he wouldn’t need to hear that explanation. He could hear some key points. He was sick to his stomach.
Collecting himself, he listened to Midoriya’s sportsmanship before deciding to take a different route. He wouldn’t bare to see the expressions on either of their faces after that conversation. Instead, he entered the Lunch Hall.
“(Name)-kun! Over here!”
Looking at the call, he found Uraraka waving him over. Obeying the request, he made his way over to the gravity manipulator. She was with Iida and a few other students in their class. Rejecting the offer of food, he simply sat down.
“Your costume! It’s so cool! You look like a professional Hero!” Smiling at her classmate, (Name) offered a small lift of a smile.
“I think some people think you are,” One of Shouji’s mouths supplied.
Looking around him, (Name) spotted a few handful of students taking pictures of him, or pointing him out to other individuals. (Name) wished he wore a mask, or at the least, face paint. Embarrassed, (Name) tried to ignore the looks of his fellow first years.
“You were amazing during the Cavalry Battle. All of you were.” Gazing about the classmates, he tried to stop Tenya’s hand from offering some of his food to him but was unsuccessful.
“I wonder what’s going to happen next?” Tsuyu thought aloud.
“I’d say it’ll be a bigger testament of your skills; be prepared for anything. If I had to guess- perhaps a battle royale of sorts?” (Name) thought for a second, “that’s really all I can think of, besides, perhaps more battle bots?” Returning the food to Iida, he watched as some boys flagged down Kyouka and Yaoyorozu.
“How is it up there with Present Mic and Eraserhead Sensei?” Iida asked, still trying to feed (Name).
“The same if I were alone with the both in private. Though, Aizawa would be more talkative. I’ve grown used to the volume Hizashi speaks at.” (Name) glared at the red-eyed boy, “please stop offering me your food.”
“How is it, living with the both of them?” Asked the mute voice of Koda.
“Oh. I don’t live with them together. They are in separate households. I help Aizawa when I’m not with Hizashi at his home, but I mostly stay in Hizashi’s home. As for how it is: their personalities are still the same, but of course there are a few things they let loose on.”
“I don’t know if I could live with any of my teachers… I applaud you,” Uraraka nommed on her lunch some more before continuing, “I feel like there would be some kind of tension.”
There is so much tension, you don’t even know what you’re speaking about, Uraraka.
“So, your birthday is next week?” Iida asked.
“Yes.” (Name) adjusted his birthstone bracelet.
“So, what type of gifts do you like?” Uraraka prodded. Paying a rather strange amount of attention to him as she held onto her phone.
“Oh. Do not worry yourselves, or your pockets, about me. I wouldn’t like any gifts for my birthday.”
“Alright We won’t get anything. But, if we were to get you something, what would it be?” Uraraka asked.
“That won’t work on me,” (Name) deadpanned. Uraraka let out a defeated ‘darnit!’
“What day is your birthday, (Name)?” Shouji asked.
“May 11th,” checking his phone, he was getting another photo from Einar.
It was a photo of himself, looking at the camera with a half snarl. You could clearly see the scarred side of his face.
feral_queer: hey!! it u!! u look so cool wit ur hero costume!!!
feral_queer: look at dat sexy man right dere
feral_queer: gorgeous. stunning. amazing
me: Stop that.
feral_queer: just appreciating fine art uwu
Now with a red face, (Name) couldn’t tell what he felt more: embarrassed, flustered, or mad. Deciding not to label it, he decided that it was time to find his adults. Excusing himself, he passed by Todoroki. Avoiding his gaze, (Name) certainly felt the chill up his spine. What was that boy subjected to? How does he help his fellow student?
Seeing the two Pro Heroes calling him over, he put his device away. Being told that their intermission was almost over, he followed his caretakers to their post.

Once the students left the Lunch Hall, Hizashi’s voice caused the Dane to look up. Spotting his fellow 1-A students dressed in cheerleader uniforms, (Name) let out a confused ‘huh’. Quickly piecing things together, he recalled the boys that spoke to the Creation and Earphone Jack Quirked girls. Feeling unwavering anger, (Name)’s hand warmed.
“I knew those brats were up to something. I hope they watch their backs.”
“You’re scary,” Hizashi commented.
“If Mineta were around, this would definitely be his doing,” Shouta sighed behind facial bandages.
Allowing Hizashi to announce the tournament. This would be the last event to determine the victor. Interesting…
Some were more energized for the tournament versus others. (Name) was particularly interested with the Gen. Ed student and how he would fair. Only knowing his class- he was certainly an unknown variable. With hawk-like vision, (Name) would be paying close attention to his fight. Surprised to see Oijiro and the 1-B student forfeit, (Name)’s attention was completely captured.
The spirit of the boys is unparalleled! Let’s have our fun, yeah?
Watching the rest of the students perform their tasks, (Name) felt the energy from before. Excitement that tickled each nerve, it made the boy giddy. Wondering who was to fight who. He’d switched his gaze to his wrapped host parent, the man was tugging on some of his more restrictive bandages. (Name) noticed what he was reaching for and assisted. Ebony eyes found the
Watching the field form for the battles, the fights were chosen. The voice in the back of his head was active, today. Putting a hand at the spot, a small amount of heat was applied there to temporarily halt the thoughts.
As Shinsou’s and Midoriya’s fight began, (Name) practically stood on the edge of his seat. Wondering what this Gen. Ed student could do. Maybe a coercion Quirk? Suggestion? Telekinesis?
Mind Control.
Listening to Aizawa wax off about the Entrance Exam and how it was flawed, (Name) fought the urge to get sick. All he could remember is Lisura.
“Midoriya… Do something…” (Name) muttered under his breath in Danish.
Watching his finger break, (Name) did a small fist clench. Watching as Shinso panicked, the words he said made (Name) want to flee. He’s desperate to be in the hero course, but cannot because of a rigged system. No matter where (Name) goes, there will also be some corruption, it seems.
Once Shinsou’s back found the hard surface of the ground, (Name) finally averted his gaze. Listening as the boy’s friends encouraged him, it gave (Name) some hope; Shinsou would do a lot better in the Hero Department. He hoped the student would be able to be in the department soon.
“We definitely have a cast of characters in our school…”
Watching Sero try to fight Todoroki, to only have the ice climb above the stadium caused the boy’s throat to dry. Poor Sero- being the blunt of the attack. Using some of his Heatwaves when the ice touching the pressbox started to seep inside. All three men were stunned silent. He was told to help assist with thawing the arena, so he helped the Pros. He could feel the phones pointed at him. He would never hear the end of this, it seems.
When Iida and the Support student fought, (Name) couldn’t help but feel a tad bit amused at the circumstances. Of course Golden Boy Iida would agree to be a sales pitch. (Name) already sent his message of consolation about the circumstances while being used as a human test dummy. He was even more amused when Kirishima fought his doppleganger opponent. Also sending a message to the boy, he hoped that Uraraka would be alright fighting Bakugou. Regretting showing the boy his trick for projectile launching.
> ME: You’ll do great out there, Uraraka.
Watching her fight, however, made (Name) truly see her colours.
Determined, methodical; she knew Bakugou’s approach. Seeing the rocks crumble under the explosions, (Name) already hatched out her plan. It was a damn good plan, too. Getting upset when the Pro Hero from the stands dared to speak ill of her, he was about to cut in until Shouta spoke first. Allowing a rather smug grin stretch across his lips when the Pro was put in his place by his host father, he watched his friend fight. A gritted noise was heard when her plan fell through like it did, and with her collapse.
With Todoroki’s and Midoriya’s fight next in the challenges, (Name) wasn’t sure how this would end. Destruction would occur, yes. It would be hard to contain both of their violent powers. On the edge of his seat the entire time, (Name) ended up standing up to watch better. Both of his caretakers took definite notice but said nothing. Between what was said between the two; he needed to know how this would end. Pressing his wireless earphone deeper into his ear to hear better. When the two started to shout at one another, about one’s Quirk, about wanting to be a Hero-
A single tear escaped the Dane.
Watching Cementoss halt the blast from the fire user and Midoriya, (Name) tied to peer through the cloud of heat. Unable to, (Name) punched the side of something. It made a noise, but other than that, nothing happened. A growl escaped the boy, but it silenced when he spotted an unconscious Midoriya out-of-bounds.
The next few fights continued on without much hassle. Very tame considering the Midoriya and Todoroki’s battle. The Iida and Todoroki fight was high-energy, but also incredibly quick. Still very interesting to watch, though. The Tokoyami and Bakugou fight was definitely interesting.
(Name) was more worried about the Todoroki and Bakugou fight about to undergo.
Sitting back in his seat, he spared a glance at Shouta who was attempting to remove the wraps from his hands. Having a small bump delivered to his upper arm, (Name) caught on what his host father silently asked. Removing a single layer of the wraps, Shouta was able to grip his phone a lot better. Nodding to the adult, (Name) watched as Bakugou and Todoroki began to fight.
Wincing at their first clash, (Name) hoped this wouldn’t be a fight having to be interrupted by Cementoss once more. Focused on the two in the arena, he hoped no one would be seriously injured, unlike Midoriya. Waving away the current state of his classmate. He needed to see this through. The violent nature of Bakugou, and Todoroki’s recent epiphany—this will be a riot of a struggle. Bakugou was a lot more into the fight than his opponent, and this caused him the win in the end. With Todoroki thinking about anything and everything at once: it wasn’t hard to understand the circumstances.
(Name) felt for Todoroki.
Watching as Bakugou fell unconscious by Midnight’s Quirk, (Name) truly thought it was for the best.
When he was awoken for the awards ceremony, Bakugou was a monster. Expected, because it is Bakugou. It was strange to see Iida absent on the platform, considering he was in third place. Hearing something about a ‘family emergency’ made the Dane’s blood run cold.
Was Tensei OK—was Tenya OK? (Name) needed to make contact with him as soon as possible…
Leaving the press box for the last time that night, (Name) was glad to finally be relieved of the stares of value. A hand rubbing the nape of his neck, the Dane scratched under his collar. Making his way to the 1-A locker room. He’d begun the process of unbuttoning his vest in front of his locker until the excited chatter of his fellow classmates reached his ears. A twinge of drowsiness followed the voices. It was expected—today’s events were torturous compared to the typical classwork. Stretching stiffened limbs, a deep groan escaped his throat.
Pulling out his phone as it buzzed within a pocket, (Name) read the details of Shouta’s text message to their ‘family group chat’. It seemed that the transition to living with the ebony-haired man would begin a lot sooner than he thought. Recovery Girl had just approved Shouta as capable and well-enough healed to take over as his primary caretaker. With Hizashi delivering the news, the Dane would be able to go home with the Underground Pro Hero.
| | |
Having returned to the host home, (Name) sat idly on his bed while eyeing his charging phone. Scrolling through his app’s timeline, the Dane spotted an Instagram post from Midoriya’s account (something dubbed ²Small_Might) featuring himself, Uraraka, and Iida. The three were smiling while dressed in their navy gym uniforms. (Name) felt his heart drop when he’d seen how happy Iida was before the Festival only to have him miss him being placed in third place. Switching to his messaging app, he wanted to see if he had accidentally missed a message from the cobalt-haired teen. Seeing nothing, a frown pulled at (Name)’s features.
Tossing the device to the side, (Name) rubbed at aching temples. Maybe he should go over to the Iida home? It may be seen as being rude. Still—it was unusual for Iida to read his message without leaving a reply.
A sudden jolt made the teen jump as
“Iida? How are you?”
“I’ve… I’m not good… It’s Tensei…” A long breath of a pause, “I’m at Hosu General right now—Tensei was attacked while on duty…”
A small sob could be heard from the other side of the line.
“He’s… he’s not looking good at all. They’re sending me home right now; only one family member is allowed to stay overnight.”
“I’m on my way,” speaking without thinking, (Name) grabbed his black bomber jacket. Once he recently received as a gift, was decorated with a tiger on its back.
“O-oh, (Name); please don’t worry about me-” Iida tried to recollect himself.
“I should be there within ten minutes. Please, don’t leave before I reach you.”
After receiving a weak confirmation, Iida had to end his side of the call to fill out some paperwork from the nurses. (Name) snagged up his dear earbuds and shoved them into his ears to play his music while running out of the house. Jumping over two cats this time, (Name) made a flurry of an excuse to Shouta before bolting again. Already knowing this wouldn’t sit well with his host father, he knew to make amends later. All of his focus was currently zoned onto Iida right now.
Hot pants blew through the cold night air as (Name) sprinted to the hospital. Luckily already knowing where the location was because of the careful studying of the area map. His boots gritted unsteadily against loose gravel and asphalt—almost falling when turning a corner too sharply, he had to dodge a late-night couple. Throwing out an apology—and in the wrong language—(Name)’s throat burned. The wetted sidewalks and roads didn’t help his boot’s traction but he would make it well enough.
Jumping through the automatic sliding doors of the hospital, his entrance startled some of the nurse staff who lingered in the lobby. With
“Excuse me, is anyone named Iida Tenya still here?” (Name) finally caught his breath.
“Oh, yes, actually. He’s in the cafeteria now. If you would like to get something cold-er, warm to drink, I would go down there.”
“Thank you, Miss,” (Name) nodded. Beginning to walk away, he bounced back to the desk, “oh, would you like me to bring you up anything?”
The nurse seemed surprised by the offer. Waving the boy’s offer away with a grateful tone to her voice, (Name) followed the signs that would take him to Iida. Adjusting his wet locks, he attempted to put them back in their usual style. Wringing out some of the dampness at a water fountain, he had more luck putting himself back together. Walking through the propped-open doors of the cafeteria, he began scanning the room. Recognizing the squared glasses that Iida typically wore placed upon a table, he traced them back to the teen currently struggling with a drink vending machine. Walking over, the Dane watched Iida show a rare sign of frustration as a fist hit the face of the machine.
“You need to confirm the choice before it is dispensed,” (Name) spoke in a small voice. Pointing out where it stated this fact. Reddened eyes found him with surprise.
“(Name), you’re here…? You’re soaked, too. You must be freezing.”
“Of course I’m here. I said I was coming, didn’t I?” Replied the Dane. Utilizing his Quirk to dry his hair further. “How’s Tensei’s condition? Do they have him stable?”
“He might need another minor surgery. They have him stable,” When he paused, it wasn’t difficult for (Name) to tell that the boy was fighting to keep himself together.
“Let’s get you something warm to eat. I happen to know of some places that will still deliver right now,” (Name) consoled. A warm hand reached Iida’s back, rubbing soothing circles. Tenya sagged against (Name)’s touch.
Dragging the drained teen from Hosu General, the rain continued to fall. Dropping heavier than before, (Name)’s lack of a hood on his jacket caused his hair to get soaked once more. Iida decided to use his school uniform jacket as a makeshift umbrella and held it above both of their heads. Minding the curbside, the two boys didn’t want to be doused with the spray of water from passing vehicles. In silence, the two UA students walked to the Iida household together. (Name) watched his companion. The Dane could see the sadness trapped in crimson hues. Noticing that their stride was slowing—it wasn’t long until they stopped completely. The heat user eyed his companion.
“Iida-“
(Name)’s
(Name) did the only thing he could think of at the time: pull the teen into his arms.
Tenya responded by wrapping strong arms around (Name)s form. Feeling the square-framed glasses against his spine as they were caught in a tight grip. The uniform jacket was caught by (Name) just before it fell into a dirtied puddle. With a hand cupping Iida’s neck, the cobalt-haired boy buried himself in the crook of (Name)’s neck. The new wetness on his skin didn’t bother the Dane. Instead, soothing circles were rubbed into his friend’s back. Using Heat Wave to keep Iida’s body temp from dropping. They were quickly becoming soaked. Giving no care to the rain, (Name) continued to console his friend until they pulled away. Watching Tenya collect himself, the Dane took the liberty of cleaning off Iida’s glasses; using the only spot of his shirt that wasn’t drenched. Returning them to Iida, the grey blazer was also returned followed by a meek ‘thank you’.
“Let’s get you home, Tenya,” wrapping a hand on his friend’s shoulder, he gave a few light squeezes before the two continued their journey.
Once inside the home, Tenya offered to take (Name)’s damp bomber jacket. Something that was a shade darker than normal due to the water it soaked up. Relinquishing his outerwear, Iida brought it to the washer before the two boys sat in the living room. Looking out of the window, where it continued to rain. (Name) eyed his friend for a moment; he had an exhausted look to him.
“Try to take a hot shower to warm up, Iida. It may make you feel better as well,” (Name) offered, “if you’re worried about leaving me—don’t. I'll be here for as long as you need me.” A weak nod acknowledged his friend’s offer.
“Thank you, (Name)…” pulling himself from the soft cushions Iida made towards the bathroom.
The Dane was left in a complete daze as he stared at the ceiling, no clear thoughts came to him. Still trying to catch up from running his marathon and allowing someone to get close enough to wrap their arms around him. His moment of peace didn’t last long.
Hearing a loud slam from the room he was in, he leapt before vaulting over the back of the sofa. Seeing Tenya in the hallway, having just dropped his phone, was on his knees. Still wrapped in a cream-colored towel. (Name) crouched to his height.
The boy was crying again.
Wrapping his arms around Iida’s shirtless form, he fed heat to him through ruined hands. A pain made itself known in his chest as he heard his friend so heartbroken. Having his own wave of sorrow. The Dane continued to console his friend, allowing Iida to release his sadness.
“I don’t like how quiet it is without them here…”
Tenya sputtered over his sobs.
“I understand, Iida,” said boy picked up his gaze up to look at the Dane.
(Name) brought forward a hand to thumb away tear trails before reaching to rub the nape of Iida’s neck. Pulling the boy closer, (Name) pressed his forehead against Tenya’s in comfort. He could feel how hot the other’s face was—probably from the hyperventilating to catch his breath.
“Are you back with me?”
“Yes,” Iida stopped the doting hand on his face. Holding (Name)’s warm hand to his cheek, Iida continued to collect himself. “I’m sorry.”
“Rep- do not apologize. There is no reason to.” (Name) spoke softly, there was also a firmness with his response. “Now, let’s get you off this dirty floor, yeah?”
Doing just that, Tenya retreated to his room to clothe himself. A warm shower was offered to the Dane, who took the chance. A quick shower with cold water refreshed him. Thoroughly washing his hair, the Dane suddenly had a strange vision.
A man, large in size, stood in front of him. (Name)’s point of view was considerably shorter than it usually is, as though he were a child. A heavy hand found the back of (Name)’s head. A pressure was applied to his forehead as a sudden untameable anger rioted inside of him. But as the older man sang in Danish with a hold on (Name), the anger soon dissipated just as fast as it came. His eyes, which refocused when the adult moved away from him, was still in a dark haze.
Coming to when soap got in (Name)’s left eye, the boy gave a grumble as he scrubbed the suds away. Letting out a string of pained noises, the shower water finally stopped. Towelling himself off, (Name) dressed in the joggers and the longsleeve crew that Tenya gave to him before entering the bathroom. Seeing he only showered for ten minutes, he hoped that his friend was fine when by himself.
Quickly exiting the bathroom, (Name) found the ruby-eyed teen preparing their delivery food containers on the table. Assisting Tenya with the task, the two found themselves at the sofa as they ate. Speaking over their bites of food, the mood was much more cheery than it was before. The kids joked around, (Name) even giving retellings of hilarious predicaments he’d caught HIzashi in before to alleviate the sad aura trapping Iida. Catching a breath from a laugh, Tenya granted a lift of a smile to the Dane.
“I cannot thank you enough for doing all of this, (Name). For coming over, and helping me when I couldn’t pick myself up,” Tenya paused his eating to say. (Name) also lowered his chopsticks with a swallowed bite of food.
“You’re welcome. I can see you doing the same to me, if the opportunity ever arose. Though, with your Recipro Burst, you would be a lot faster at reaching me.”
“Actually, I was quite surprised with how fast you arrived at Hosu Gen. I thought Present Mic lived farther out?”
“Oh, he does. I was with Ai-”
“Aizawa-sensei?” Iida was confused on why (Name) cut himself off that abruptly.
“I never told him where I was going. I just… ran out of the door…”
“(NAME)! Don’t get in trouble because of me! I really do appreciate your willingness to be with me, but please-!”
Interrupted, Tenya and (Name) stared at the sudden phone call the Dane was receiving. Spotting a press photo of Eraserhead on the screen, (Name) cleared his throat to pick it up. Excusing himself for the moment.
Watching the Dane’s form hide in the hallway, Tenya put a gentle, squared hand on his heart. Despite the circumstances of why the Dane was in his home; he was very appreciative and happy that he was there. Finding himself liking the company of the international student. Knowing there was a pink tint to his face, Tenya stared at the wisps of steam from his beef stew. Hoping to gather himself before the alluring Dane returned, he busied himself. Picking up the few napkin scraps, Iida tidied up the table in front of the sofa. However, where he found the napkins of their meal, he also found Tensei’s good-luck charm: a keychain made from beads to look like a grapefruit—the juice of said fruit that powers Tensei’s Quirk. It was an arts project assigned to Tenya when he was in grade school. When gifted to the then-teen Tensei, he commented on it saying that it would be his good-luck charm and that he would take it with him everytime he left the house.
He forgot it today.
Being the breaking point for Tenya, he fell into the couch. Gripping the charm, Tenya cried in his tightly-closed fist. Trying to be silent to not disrupt the Dane and his conversation with their shared sensei. Small sobs racked Iida’s form, removing his glasses. They clattered onto the table, where they fell to the floor to Iida’s blind toss. No care was given at the moment as Tenya let them sit on the floor.
“Tenya?”
LIfting his gaze upward when his name was said, he blinked through large tears to see (Name) looking down at him. Standing beside the sofa, Tenya couldn’t fight himself from hugging his face into (Name)’s stomach. (Name) decided to stroke blue tresses after recovering from the initial shock. Gradually moving to sit on the sofa, (Name) pulled Tenya enough for him to be on his chest. (Name) had himself leaned up against the armrest, cradling the class representative.
Suddenly, the song from his shower vision returned. Tickling the tip of his tongue.
Humming it at first, (Name) hoped the vibration of his chest would soothe Tenya. Rubbing a pattern into his back with warming hands, (Name) noted that the cobalt-haired boy’s tremors slowed. Gladdened by the fact, he continued. It wasn’t long until (Name) had enough courage to sing the foreign words. Voice barely louder than a whisper. The Danish song helped calm Tenya to the point that he no longer shook. Finding him asleep in his arms, (Name)’s heartbeat sped up. Hoping the ear pressed to his chest didn’t pick this fact up.
Yawning, (Name) realized how tired he truly was. Spotting the clock hung on the wall, he read the time: 12:21 A.M.
Scrubbing a sore eye, (Name) moved his arm enough to grab the discarded square frames Iida dropped onto the floor. Seeing that Tenya hadn’t moved for a while, the Dane got comfy. The weight on him made (Name) strangely feel… safe, if he had to guess—and from that came the wave of drowsiness. Checking his phone a quick moment, a message was sent to Aizawa explaining the situation. Lucky for (Name), Shouta completely understood the situation and allowed a pass for the boy (the Dane would make it up to the Underground Hero).

1 - Kagemand - Danish, (or Kagekone) In English either translations become “Cake man” or “Cake woman”, respectfully. This baked good is a Danish cake which is molded into the shape of a boy or a girl, which is traditionally eaten at birthdays and anniversaries. It is also a variation of the simpler brunsviger or coffee cake.
2 - Small_Might - This is a reference to (The-Rended ’s) nickname for their plants back at their place. [They are my small mights, and I will take care of them.]

Well the suit finally hear and yeah it just confirms what Bakugou said and Aizawa. Do like being a viewer for the sports fest. Iida trying to feed name was sweet and feel like its setting up something for later. Love the uncertainty in how to comfort Todoroki. Knowing about shinsou should lead to some nice moments down the road. funny that from the point of view Iida was toally into the whole advertisement thing. Love how much attention and concern Iida getting now and dude does really need it. Aizawa is gonna want answers but hey total sweet and logical reason why the running out happened. so sweet to literally make sure Iida was in a much better spot emotionally and mentally. Just being there would be huge but staying home with him making sure he ate. Heck beef stew even nice touch. At least Aizawa got an answer so no need to worry about that. Think my favorite thing you did here was have em care about Iida and his state of being but also not pressing him to say more than he was ready to say or comfortable saying.

I don't even know how to word how I feel about this chapter-
The gay panic? Art. I love it. I love how Kiri is so Painfully Gay for the reader, I CANNOT EVEN. But then seeing how he's not the only one affected? Just sdfjhksqndjf GENIUS.
Spending time with the dads? Perfect. Helping Aizawa in subtle ways without overly fussing is just ksdjfnq ksjdfqjdf qk sdf QUALITY CONTENT.
And then.
Then.
After all this art, these blessings you have given us.
Taking care of Iida. Oh my god, I loved this. You wrote it so well, it felt so real at all times!! The moodswings, the comfort, the pain, it all felt so real and genuine.
My skin is cleansed, my crops are blessed. You, my dear author, have just made my week. <3<3
