The Bronze Age interpretation is easily the coolest Brainiac design, I mean, it's basically a what happens when you cross the Terminator with Cthulhu

Well I don't know about that Lex is a good villain for him...but so far he's appeared in most of the film adaptations...and it would be nice to see other villains

Lex is cooler in the comics and especially in Superman TAS (gotta love Clancy Brown's voice), but they turned him into a hammy moron in the original Superman movie, and all the other versions of him followed suit
if I was making a Superman movie, the villain would be someone who can actually fight Superman, like Brainiac or Doomsday or freakin' Darkseid. That's what the audience is there for. Making a Superman movie, then not having a good villain for him to fight is the cinematic equivalent of a strip tease
