Hon, I absolutely LUV this modern drawing of Jan! Not to date myself (although I will), I saw the original shows of these episodes so my youth had much of the 'old' shows that are shown on the CARTOON CLASSICS channels & Jan was always one of my favorite characters. KUDOs!!!
As to MarkFanboy's comment regarding Mr. Toth, I learned something new (thank you) and Jayna would be another character similar to Jan, since both had male siblings. Plus both were sidekicks, Jayna more or less to all the Superfriends, I imagine while Jan was devoted to SG. Who knows what wuold happen if this version of Jan was modernized to a SG of 2011 & those long intergalatic voyages....(plus today's lack of morals/ratings compared to the 1960's Walt Disney ethnics--- Captain34's comment regarding the 'old dog SG' lol)

John, I see we are only a decade apart so you know what I am talking about better than most. In the Walt Disney Era of the 1960's we had cartoon ratings that were simply G and I don't think it was til GI Joe & the like entered the harsh killing/maiming of Reality 101 to cartoonland.
Yes with reality violence we slide into reality sexual innuendos so if a modern version of SG was to come about, I imagine that Jan & SG would be more of a hmmm, well, maybe we'd discover he is only a ward without being a relative so when romance or 'other' happens, it is accepted. lol After all, we are still dealing with cartoons & children so adult themes would more than likely be avoided so parents would allow their children to watch. Of course I imagine a lot od fathers might choose to watch with their children, much like what happened with Wonder Woman & Lynda Carter in the '80's. lol
Next question: would the viewers prefer a sweet & innocent Jan or a more adult vixen in latex? (I know, a sudden image of Pamela Anderson in a mask popped into your mind....lol) hugs! Susan xox

Indeed I remember the old days.
But I also remeber adult themes slowly creeping into main stream. Death in cartoons I saw in the 70s and 80s....in the for of Star Blazers and Robotech (Those sneeky animes)
and there were adult themes covered in Gargoyles. I still can't believe what they got away with.
And Avatar the Last Airbender....a great deal of female watchers tuned in because of the romance and angst (No pun intended)
Mmmmm Lynda Carter....huh what? I imagine that it is un likely SG would be gettin Busy with Jan....but he would likely have a femme fatale

I know it seems unlikely with the SP we know but he was of the Walt D era/60's so he was like Batman/Adam West, the 100% Boy Scout although a Cosmic one. I mean, come on now, if the scene between Batman/AW and Catwoman/JN* would not be written completely different today then I am a monkey's uncle (well, okay, in my case aunt but the expression my Dad & Mom always used was masculine term)**
there is a good chance that if SG was ever 'revisited' & brought back 4 the 2011 crowd there would be more of a romantic theme between SG & Jan only in that it is accepted more today than 4 decades ago. I am not talking about sex since it is a cartoon 4 children, but in the newer toons there seems to be a lil romance added to the mix.
Of course if it was late night Monday on swin or whatever it is labeled as it could be much more....detailed. However I will admit that I am a hopeless romantic so I see things in a different light so you may be right on the $$, John. hugs! Susan xox

** The Batman episode where CW was caught by BM & they almost kissed & it was INNUENDOED that they would have if Robin did not walk in @ that moment.

yes I concur since that is precisely what I meant with Lynda Cater's WW of the '80's. The TV Guide had an article that mentioned the fact that more dads were sitting down & watching WW with their children & we all know why.
lol You just might recur the Battle of the Network Stars where it was secretly nicknamed on SNL: The Battle of the T's & A's. I think I'll let the others think about this a moment b4 taking out the Crayolas & drawing a picture. lol
Cartoons can be 4 adults even though they may not be in the Adult category. I would luv to see an Adult version of several cartoons UNOFFICIALLY (I know, a married mom should not be thinking like this! OMG! Discipline me! lol). I fear my idea of Adult cartoons would not be X-Rated though, just more details & innuendos & real life themes. SG & Jan together w/out Jace; Dexter's Mom* entertaining when family's away; Lois Griffin (hmmm, we'll leave that one & Francine alone since they have already been naughty with others in an alleged fashion); scant others though I do not have time to mention them.
All I will say is that my idea of Cartoons 4 Adults would be more like character involvements w/out the sex scene. One example close to home: Sue Storm Richards stepping out of Ben Grimm's bedroom early in the morning with a smile on her face & her hair in a very relaxed uncombed/unbrushed way.
hmmm I went way past the limit I fear on here....sorry to bore you all.
hugs!! Susan xox

Well that might make the Fantastic Four more interesting for me. I know their history. It's like it is just rehash after rehash so there is no intrigue for me there.
But even the subplot in JLU of who was dating who was fun.
I'm not saying every adult cartoon needs to be Heavy Metal or the crass nature of Family Guy either. Like I said I enjoyed Avatar the Last Airbender and Gargoyles very much. The latter ending with a human woman commiting to a relationship with a mythical creature.

Very sexy redo of a classic 'toon sidekick, Inspector. Have you ever done a pic of Wendy from the old Superfriends cartoon? I'm pretty sure you've done Jayna.

She came to mind because all 3 characters (and sidekick sets) were all made by the same guy, Alex Toth. Maybe just a simple sitting pose like this, that would be good enough for me.

I remember watching Space Ghost in some sort of "Power Hour" lineup with the Herculoids and some other intergalactic teenage police force (they rode around space on star-shaped hovercycles). That was in 1983--maybe Space Ghost was rebooted in the 80s, or it was reruns.

Many Hanna Barbera characters had a second life in the 80s.

Whoa, I've seen a lot of nostalgia pieces in recent days, but almost none quite this vintage. Totally unexpected, but not unwelcome. Never did like her brother Jace that much.
