She had a purple lightsaber when she was emperor's hand. There is a graphic novel named Mara jade's by the emperor's hand where she uses it.

Well they did find a way to get a version of Grand Admiral Thrawn into canon. So there is hope that She as well as the better parts of the old EU may still find a way to exist.

I tend to agree with much of the EU being jettisoned. Too much self contradiction, bad writing / plots even by fan fiction standards, and forgettable characters. But that being said, there were good parts.
Unlike Paramount's ham fisted attempts to rewrite (poorly) everything Star Trek, Disney (for all the fans whining and misgivings) appears determined to preserve the established parts of Star Wars, and cherry pick the best on the EU for eventual reintroduction. Even if they had to do a lot of pruning first.

You're welcome. The EU I enjoy includes Knights of the Old Republic (the comic and the PC game series), X-wing Rogue Squadron (the comic), Shadows of the Empire (the novel), and the Thrawn trilogy (both as a novel and a comic). I heard Marvel will release the second volume of The Old Republic this March, and it'll continue the Knights of the Old Republic comic series. As for the future, I really hope New Republic, Volume 3 will continue the Rogue Squadron comic stories (that were originally done by Dark Horse).

I can think of no one else i want to be revealed to be ren's mother...than Mara Jade.
Next to leia, she's my top favorite female character...especially since she becomes Luke's wife and can kick ass on par with her husband.

The irony being she was supposed to be a failsafe to be used against Luke, but ended up turning to the light side and his spouse....i bet the emporer was pulling his hair beyond the grave.

I mean, so far the new trilogy has been like an alternate version of the expanded universe so the way i see it...why wouldnt she be his daughter.
He had one if i recall in the expanded universe, but if so...does that mean that she was killed by Kylo Ren like Mara Jade was killed by Jacen solo?

Without getting into spoilers I think there is a theory that Rey's lineage comes from someone in Star Wars Rebels... and their's from a New Hope. It's an interesting idea, as I think the line between Luke and Rey would be something the movies would likely not make so obvious.
