Beautiful art and eye popping coloring as always. I greatly enjoy discovering these unknown characters. It makes me hope that they will one day be used agian (and not just to be killed off to show something is dangerous or fridge) to show them (and some changes if need be) to new readers who don't know them.
Typing of reusing past characters and stories a great fun comic called 'Superman Smashes the Klan' was a recent 3 giant issues comic based on a old Superman radio show that was wonderful to read and great expressive art and characters. One character named Roberta Lee has a red jacket that was Superman's cape (he gave it to her) tailored for her and now seeing this character makes me feel that if they try to make the same type of storyline today part influenced by this limited sequence then a teen/older 'intern reporter' Roberta would be a good fit over Myrtle for today's situations. Furthermore that Roberta as a character has been established in that comic that was very well received.

The story plays out like Pygmalion/My Fair Lady. Myrtle is very irresponsible with her powers and speaks in east coast slang. Supes has to then teach Myrtle how to use her powers responsibly and to speak correctly.

That sounds like a good story to re adapt to the modern era.
There's some good questions that would be answered

Why did you quit.
For me it was what 52 seemed to look like it was going to do to what I enjoyed and the lack of room to store more books

I didn't have money to throw around and I wasn't reading most of the series i collected.
Did the new 52 confirm your suspicions?
I think my tastes and wisdom developed since those days.
I remember when Marvel tried to do their first relaunch of ultimate comics.

So basically She-Hulk.
Not the first time DC tried to ape Marvel (and vice-versa). Remember when they gave Clark a Flash Thompson expy in high school?

Basically a direct copy of another character that's made so incredibly obvious.

It is generally a polite way of calling something a knock off, not exactly an "homage" but as that character's role in their universe.
There are a ton of Superman expies, especially from earlier comics at the time, (same powers, fish out of water, superhero, usually wearing a cape). the original "Captain Marvel" from Fawcet comics for example. *there is a whole convoluted history there before DC bought the character in the 1970's decades later*
the term can also be applied to comedic parodies and such in shows and funny comics, like you have a cape wearing flyer with invincibility, heat vision, and saves the day; no matter what you call it, that would be a Superman expy.

Well I know there are a ton of Superman knock offs (Captain Marvel (SHAZAM), Hyperion, Mr Magestic, Icon etc...)... but Myrtle is in a category I think which is more everyone getting the powers of the main hero in the story. It usually doesn't last or make the character a synonymous with that version of themselves. We've seen that happen a lot... in golden age and even these days. Lois, Lana, Myrtle and others....

oh she's not an expy; that really only applies when another company or individual makes a look-a-like.
She would be a derivative. Which sounds awful, but is fairly common. Like have a male hero, make a female version, a pet version, a bizaro version, evil duplicate, robot, ect...
(not as common with female heroes, although Wiccan is a derivative of Scarlet Witch technically in original design...later changes not withstanding...but also of Thor in his original design as Asgardian).
you even get derivatives of derivatives like Red She-Hulk, or pretty much any Symbiote after Venom. One reason I supported Red She-Hulk changing her name; especially if used in the MCU; as while someone naming themselves a derivative as an homage to a well known hero works in a realistic setting, a derivative of a derivative doesn't as much.
