Description
My interpretation of a Rutan from Doctor Who.The Rutan's are an gestalt race from the planet Ruta III.
They are the enemy of the Sontaran's and have been locked in galactic combat with them for centuries.
Using crystaline technology, the construct their weapons and ships.
They themselves draw on electrical power and can discharge a lethal shock.

I loved the Horror of Fang Rock, very spooky atmosphere, and deadly alien. Have the Rutans ever appeared again on the show? I'd like to see em in the new series, though I dunno if they'd be CGI or practical effects in this day and age...I WOULD love to see one fight a Sontaran, just to get a better idea of how the war between these two completely different races would play out.

They appear only in the fan film Shakedown....the novel of the story gives you a better idea of what they are like, their home planet Ruta III and their technology work like

This guy reminds me of a creature from the Tom Baker (4th Doctor) series. It was a murder mystery in a light house, in the end the murderer was a lil' brain creature that the Doctor fried with a flare. Izzat this thing?

I don't think I've ever seen Rutan fan art before, but this is probably the best possible attempt to make a football-sized glob of gelatine with a light bulb inside look kinda cool.

I think Horror of Fang Rock is one of Tom Baker's best stories. The Rutan though an unlikely opponent to the Sontaran's there is something creepy and alien about the whole concept....way to go Terrence!
