Mary confronts Billy about the DC 52 changes to their brand names.I've stopped reading comics. Not by choice, I kinda got my sub cancelled by being too busy to pick up for a few months. My fault really. But I can't say I'd still be reading a lot of DC these days. I'm not a big fan of the changes. Character ages, costume designs, retooled origins and now we have name changes. He may be referred to as Shazam...a lot...but he is Captain Marvel. So changing his name is only going to throw a wrench into the works. That is the point of my joke. Kinda glad I don't collect comics right now.

I think they're all just called "The S!H!A!Z!A!M! family" collectively now. Also there're 6 of them now.

I beg to differ. The Bat verse is messed up so much i feel it almost unreadable

The Bat and Green Lantern universes are still majority intact with some confusion in the timelines and the apparent non-existence of Cass and Steph. The Super-verse was completely rewritten though so count your blessings.

Anyways, i always thought a bit funny that the Captain Marvel was copyrighted by DC, even as he is 20 years older than Marvel Comics. What if Marvel as a pressure registers a character named Captain DC? would be funny

It's really because of these reasons they're just calling him Shazam now:
1. Marvel REFUSES to surrender the "Captain Marvel" name to DC, even though the Big Red Cheese had it first. This is why his book always has to be called SHAZAM! and why they had to refer to him as such in most of his appearences outside of comics.
2. He's already been called Shazam for a couple of years now. When they did their (stupid) restructuring of the Marvel family after Infinite Crisis, Marvel Junior became the primary hero and was simply called Shazam.
3. DC decided that, since point 1 is happening and most people already know him as the guy who says SHAZAM, why not just change it and get rid of the headache.
Your point is kinda valid tho: assuming that there WILL be a Mary & Freddie in the new continuity, what the heck WOULD they call them? Again, assuming that even if they exist that they'll have powers.
