Yep DC took away these characters who stepped up when needed to fill their mentors shoes.....and I liked Wally as the Flash and Donna as Wonder Woman and Kyle Rayner as GL and Steph as Batgirl

I think Steph got the short end of the stick as Robin. She made one mistake and Bats canned her. How many mistakes did the boys make?

Plenty....Dick and Bruce have no always seen eye to eye.....Jason....well he was brash......Steph like Huntress tends to get the stink eye from Bats

Hah....Stephanie Brown was batgirl until the 52 reboot...she was briefly Robin....wtf?.....and she was suddenly pregnant during "No Man's Land" so she couldn't be Batgirl so Cass could....why I'm not a Cass fan actually

Actually, she originally took up the identity to foil her dad (who was a second-rate Riddler-clone calling himself the "Cluemaster").

Beyond that, I don't know much about her apart from the fact she fought alongside Gotham City's Dynamic Duo for a time (despite the Dark Knight's obvious misgivings).

Oh they certainly were. As were Donna Troy, Wally West, Kyle Rayner and Hal Jordan...to name a few screw ups and abuses

Oh yes, they repeatedly used the character horribly before the Batgirl run to facilitate other stories. I'm apprehensive but curious to see how the character will be used in her return in Batman Eternal this Spring.
