Description
Full view please. This is a shot of a potato dropped in a bowl of water with ice. The picture was taken in almost complete darkness with the main flash at the lowest setting possible and a remote flash on the right side, pointing directly at the subject (no bounce) at full blast.
This is an experimental shot... Hope you like it.

Why a potato
How about the same idea , while the camera angle is a bit lower and closer to the splash, because right now the bowl is very big in size and the splash is small and a bit inconspicuous. Plus if you try to get at eye level with the splash, you'll lose that shadow of the bowl.
Hmmmm, but at that level, the condensation from the ice water on the bowl , might be a bit distracting, well you can try it and see.
I'm not bitching mate, just giving some pointers, don't take it the wrong way
But all in all, very good use of 2 flashes for high speed photography.

Well, to answer your first question: because it's what I had at hand. Tried a small tomato but it was not effective enough. I tried closer shots but I was missing the upper and widest splashes so that's why it's a bit far. As for the splash appearing to be small, you are obviously not the one that had to wipe the table and mop the floor afterward. LOL Seriously, I know what you mean but I think that the background color, which is some sort of fake black marble doesn't help one bit for exposing the splash. Initially, it was on a very light green background but I got so wet that I had to remove it. My goal was not to capture the potato itself, so the condensation on the bowl itself, although I would have preferred not to have any, was not a concern. What I wanted to capture was the splash itself.
I know you are not bitching and I appreciated the time and effort you made to comment my picture in such detail. It is always helpful to have a good critique as it helps me get better. So, thank you very much my friend.
Cheers!
