I hear ya, I have found a few fair animal related books like Watership Down and Fire Bringer and all that jazz but there needs to be more!
The novel I am working on for NaNo is actually focused about a humanoid demon named Ashes (he acts very feral though) but there is my version of animal shifters in there too. One of the secondary characters is a wolf shifter who rarely uses her human form. xD

A calico fox? That's an intriguing fur color pattern! Your ability to communicate feeling and emotion so skillfully in your art is truly admirable. Anyone would be able to get the feeling you wrote there without the text because of how well the art communicates to the viewer. Fantastic!

Well, in this case I took their color layer, copied it, filled it with gray, set the setting to multiply, and erased out some spots where the light would come though. =]

Hmm... I don't even remember. I'm sure you could learn faster looking up tutorials. I think it took me a long time to learn everything just because I was always like "HEY! What's this button do? =O How'd I do that?" xD But now it's more fun because I know hotkeys for most of what I do so I don't need to use the buttons all the time. =]
