Naktis could stand himself no longer. Even using magic for "good," he felt dirty and wrong; corrupted, something malevolent. He knew it served Yetta's purpose, but he felt like a hypocrite. He couldn’t stay. He didn’t belong in any circle, among the afflicted, nor those without a magical curse. Not that he had ever minded being alone, but before he had not minded his own company. Now he couldn’t stand being in his own presence. Perhaps, one day, he'd come back. If he wasn't afflicted. He wasn’t sure Yetta would have him back, but he'd cross that river when, and if, he got there.
