Description
This is a large painting done using unconventional methods... The assignment given by my professor was to take an object not normally used to make art, dip it in watered-down acrylic paint (?), and then draw with it.So I took the apartment key out of my pocket and went all-out.
It actually turned out super awesome, considering that there was no pencil sketch beforehand. I screwed up in places but managed to cover it up by gouging and darkening certain areas.
I was thinking of the title "Skeleton Key" because I'm super uncreative. But decided against it.
The reference skeleton is named Zelda, apparently. She has a last name, too, but nobody seems to know it. (Is it just me, or do all art skeletons seem to be female? Why is this? I prefer drawing men. XD)

Dimensions: 18x24-ish
Medium: Acrylic-ish
Pardon the quality. Had to photograph this one.
Note: This is remarkably popular for some reason and I honestly have no idea why. X'D I wasn't even going to post it. Maybe I shouldn't second-guess myself so often when I want to upload something to this site...

I'm glad you like it! It was definitely a challenge, since erasing wasn't an option.

I think this turned out pretty darn awesome, plus I think skellymens are a pain to draw >.>;;;
And really? All female? I've mainly met male ones :U
I also had a fear of reference skeletons when I was little and we had one in our classroom.

Yeah, every reference skeleton I've seen has cartilage on their pelvis. I think that this is a sign that it's a female. But I could be horribly wrong. X'D
Skellymens are so much fun to draw! More so than random pots and buckets. I hate my drawing class. X'D

This is epic! What a creative and unusual way to educate students on the limitlessness of art. This turned out very impressive, for using nontraditional tools! Bravo

Thank you! I can't say it's the assignment that I particularly enjoyed; for me, it's all about subject matter. He had us drawing a lamp before he pulled out the skeleton, and lemme tell ya... I didn't try at all to make it look good. XD

Haha, that's awesome! And you painted this with a key? You continue to amaze me!
Hey, your right! At least you can draw something that's female! Skeletons!

I've successfully drawn a female! This is happening more and more often. I'm proud of myself. XD

NO PENCIL SKETCH BEFOREHAND?!? DANG, girl, you are so freaking talented!!
And question: How on earth can you tell that's a woman?? I can never understand how scientists figure out what sex a skeleton was in the mortal life (except for the extra rib in the cage thing)

You can tell by their pelvis. Women have cartilage on their pelvis and men don't (I think). It's got something to do with birth and nastiness like that. XD
Naw, you're too sweet! Thank you!

Nah, I looked at one of those plastic skeleton model thingies. I did have a reference! But yeah, not working off of a sketch was kinda hard.
Thank you so much! 8D

Aw, thanks! And yeah, it was really difficult. O_o I don't usually just delve into a drawing like that. Maybe I should, though--it makes for good practice!
