Sunrise over Fairhaven, Massachusetts. 6am, August 16 2006I'm acutely aware of the fact that this is a terrible pic. My digital camera is the cheapo variety. I didn't even bother to set the date/time as you can see on the right.
Anyway, I still managed to enjoy a relaxing hour sipping coffee while watching the boats, birds, clouds and sunrise. What were you doing at 5am?

Yes, it truly is nice to watch the sunrise. I should start schlepping over to the other side of my little peninsula to see the sunsets. It's only a few blocks from here.

The thing is, it's a nice shot regardless of the technical qualities i.e., depth of field, exposure, etc.
The composition is nice and the mood is translated quite well. To me, that makes a nice shot.

Mother Nature never disappoints. When I opened the image in Photoshop I showed amazing restraint. (God, I keep having these Ripley's moments. I don't know what's wrong with me!)
I'm always tempted to do all kinds of stuff to whatever I open in Photoshop but today all I did was crop and in this case add a border. *pats self on back*
