Demure
“I can’t tell you everything, that’d be rude."
Prim and proper with a modest and reserved attitude, Ikra comes off as a soft and gentle creature compared to many of her companions within Stone Empire. A relatively serious individual (in her own mind), Ikra keeps a lot of her opinions to herself and cares deeply about her own appearance. While she can fight if needed, she tends to avoid using her claws until absolutely necessary for fear of damaging them. She often comes off as uptight, egotistical, and stoic to those who don’t know her, and even to those who do. She largely believes in following those in charge and doesn’t like to shake the status quo. Though it should be noted that she puts herself on a higher level than most felines in Stone Empire.
Devoted
"I’ve got your back."
It would take a lot for Ikra to turn her back on another empiremate. While it may come as a surprise to those that know her, she cares deeply for Stone Empire and appreciates what they have done for her since she joined. For those that have become allies and close friends, there isn’t hardly anything she wouldn’t do to help them out or be there for them. She is the kind of cat that takes her time to ask what’s wrong, and will be pretty persistent about it until either she’s told to go away or is given a reason behind the sour mood. In the end, she wants to be a shoulder for others to lean on, even if she can’t protect them like some of the other cats in Stone Empire
Curt
"I’m not repeating myself."
To the point, Ikra rarely talks more than she has to if she can help it. At least, when she’s around cats she doesn’t know. That doesn’t mean that she’s crass or rude, it just means that she tries to keep things short if she can help it. After all, she was taught to be alluring and attractive, and she doesn’t… really want that side of her to come out around every cat. After all, if her job was to be a companion to others, why should she show that to the cats of an empire like stone? Also, why would she want to continue to push the agenda of her human’s when she’s so far from them?
Reactive
"Just shut up. You don’t know what I had to deal with."
While not an over-emotional feline, Ikra is a feline who reacts to others when her buttons are pushed. She’s not ill-tempered 24/7 and doesn’t really hold the same hotheadedness of a spitfire, but if another cat starts to call her out, attack her insecurities, or push her past her limits, she will get feisty. Anger is an intense emotion for her that burns bright for only the shortest of intervals, like a match struck to light a blaze, she often sizzles out and runs off after a handful of angry words are tossed out into the open. She does not do well when fighting fire with her own fire.
Arrogant
"I’m above this."
Ikra was a courtesan in the city, forced to get close to cats and cared for by many people. Because of this, she holds a level of entitlement that doesn’t really benefit any member of Stone Empire, including herself. She often thinks that there is nothing she needs to learn from others and enjoys acting as if she knows everything… when it’s very obvious that she doesn’t know anything about living within the wilderness. A self-important feline, it takes time to knock her down a peg or two, and even then, it takes a lot before she’s really willing to admit that she’s wrong and is just trying to pretend like she’s good at being an empire cat. She knows that she’s not convincing anybody, but acting like this makes her feel better.
Frivolous
"And what if I get something in my fur?"
Self indulgent and unconcerned about the more important things about empire life, most of the complaints that Ikra bothers to bring up are… well… irrelevant. She worries over her coat, is always concerned about her looks, and generally isn’t the kind of feline to get her paws dirty. It’s frustrating to work with her in most situations because she seems to empty headed. This can mostly be blamed on her upbringing and maybe someday she’ll learn to stop focusing on herself and instead get used to working hard for her empire.
Flirtatious
"You’re adorable when you get flustered"
Now, despite her want to avoid representing the agenda of her masters of old, she doesn’t always have control over her mouth or attitude. A naturally flirtatious feline, Ikra often defaults to that soft and charming and very flirtatious feline that she was asked to be, and a part of her enjoys that side of her. She knows she’s soft, she knows she grew up differently, and what harm could it be? Showing a few felines a nice night or two together in a place like this?
Charming
“You’re very good at what you do.”
Despite all of this, Ikra has a way with words. Charismatic and witty, she is aware that she has what it takes to be with other cats in ways that most aren’t comfortable with being. Not on an intimate level, but on a personal level. She’s spent much of her time in the city courting and working with other cats, getting to know them, and because of that, she generally has a good idea of what makes them tick… and she’s willing to use that to her advantage.

Ikra was born within the city of Massilia alongside her two sisters. Her master at the time had only one intention for the three snow leopards; to bring more snow leopards into the world. Weaned quickly and sold as soon as possible, she was expected from a young age to be a companion to other felines.
She was trained by other cats who worked in similar situations on how to be a soft and cushy feline, welcome to listen to others and be a companion to those who needed it. If cubs came from those discussions, then it all worked according to plan, and if they didn’t, it wasn’t the end of the world. She was told not to get attached to others, and was directed by many of the older cats to keep her heart locked up tight to avoid getting hurt.
She listened to them all with polite interest, nodding her head and agreeing that in the end, it made mores sense to focus on herself than worry about love and the dangers of getting too close to a cat that may not be anything more than a nightly client.
The reality of her situation didn’t really dawn on her until she became an apprentice. While not capable of having children of her own, she was often brought to speak with felines her own age and work with them to build connections. Finding potential cats to work with when they both came of age was often drilled into her head, and while Ikra didn’t mind talking to other cats (and flirting with them), the “come of age” part began to make more and more sense as she slowly but surely put two and two together for her future.
She’d remember what she had been told all those months ago when she had first been purchased into the business, and feel a deep sense of dread in her stomach. Cubs wouldn’t be frowned upon, but it wasn’t necessary to the job. She met a handful of felines right before she was near that dreadful age necessary for childbirth, became friends with them both, and realized just how scared she was of the prospects of her future.
Even if she had been taught from the get go that this would be her life, she could feel that icy concern in her belly. Not because she didn’t want children, but because she worried about becoming like other felines she knew, giving birth year after year to father after father without a mate or anything in sight. Despite how prestigious being a feline companion was in the city of Massilia, she couldn’t help but question if this was how she’d always live her life.
Even if she didn’t know better, she yearned to find a place that wasn’t just about her duty to the city and her masters.
She gave birth to her first litter on the eve of Ragnarok. Due to the fires within the city, she was taken from them almost immediately to save their lives, but she didn’t know better and struck out at her masters. They left her behind for dead, grabbing her three cubs and running for it.
That’s when a Stone Empire feline found her and took her back to the empire. Desperate to find a way back home to her cubs, she lied through her teeth to the dangerous empire cats, telling them that she wanted to see the city burn brighter than the night she had been taken from it. She promised her cubs, the three she had lost, to the empire if she could manage it, and prayed that it would be enough to convince the cats to let her join.
She didn’t expect to find solace with these felines, but she did. She never forgot her cubs, but every time she suggested going to find them, she was shut down. She didn’t have the skills required or they didn’t know if she’d come back with them… every turn she was thwarted in her plans.
Then, she was captured. Ripped away from her new home unexpectedly while she was out enjoying a stroll by herself as she normally did. Apparently, her owners had posted a bounty for her return to the city and the hunters had gone out to collect their due.
She was back in that wretched place, and she knew then and there that if she didn’t escape it, she would be right back where she started nearly two years ago.
The question was, would she go to find her children or escape back to Stone Empire? She’d need to choose, before destiny chose for her.

In that liminal space between night and day, the cover of shadow portrayed a much more sinister effect on her than the lynx that stood beneath it. She was not used to being under such a dense canopy of trees that so effectively hid the more distinct features of his pelt from her view. The thin pine branches and tundra biome of Ice rarely left her without at least some view of the sky above, and while most would find the exposure unwelcome, it was something that many a feline in Ice felt comforting.
In such open spaces she was less likely to be taken off guard by wolves or bears, something that was an ever constant threat at such high altitudes so far from the city. She watched the condensed branches beyond her companion, knowing that they held little solace for her. Though strangely, instead of thinking of spider webs or the looming threat of wolves, she found that the darkness beyond itched and tickled at the edges of her nightmares in a different way. If she focused on it long enough, she could hear the distant thundering calls of a large crowd, but she brushed it off with a flick of her ear.
This space did not belong to her, a distinct disadvantage she held compared to her companion. Though she was clearly unbothered by the lynx before her.
If anything, he took that edge off of her worries, though she couldn't exactly identify why that was the case.
"I'm surprised to know..."
Dread prickled at Nedria's pelt as his clipped tone struck her as hard as his unsheathed claws. She was silently thankful she had little issue keeping her face controlled under the pressure, though she was inwardly scolding herself over making it seem as if her empire was wary of its neighbors. While true, they were often more concerned about what the absence of that reliability meant for their southern border. Just as she had worried earlier about what had happened to the patrol, she knew that would be the concern that Kahla would hold as well.
Normally, she was better at avoiding such social blunders, but she did remind herself this was her first time handling such an important task with another empire, and he may have misunderstood her intent. She was allowed to make mistakes, though she found little comfort in the thought. Instead, she found it was better to be honest. This wasn't a blunder, she had nothing to hide if she wanted to be blunt with the feline before her.
"We keep track of most of the other empires who border our territory, more out of concern for our neighbors than anything else. If we know we have reliable neighbors and they suddenly stop marking their borders, it can easily be a sign of danger or a warning that something has happened. I understand we can be occasional enemies when it comes to territory disputes..." She paused, looking at him with her glacial gaze. "... but I hope you can also see that we're not trying to poke holes in your ability to defend your territory. The... forest... isn't really in our realms of interest as far as resources go..." It wasn't clipped, but there was certainly an undercurrent to her words that portrayed the exact image most empires had of the northern empire. Our concerns are elsewhere.
As he chuffed, she relaxed, realizing that there had been a blunder in communication between the two of them, but it was not one he had fully decided to take offense to. "I hope you understand I did not mean to make it seem as such." She added, her voice softening as she watched him.
Realization dawned on the snow leopardess as she stood before him and the darkness. The ease in which the lightly armored feline held was more a difference in their upbringing than anything, though living within Fire Empire's borders must've further pushed him into his element. From the distance they had originally shared, she had not seen the scars that battered his frame. She did not marvel at them, but she couldn't help but quietly file the information away to consider later. She could feel the title of Coliseum fighter clinging to him like a second skin. She did observe that he appeared to be trying to shed that from his being, much like she was still removing herself from the pampered life she held before she had come to the empires.
He was direct. Something she appreciated more than she let on. She could talk pleasantries all day and get nowhere if allowed to do so. Her mouth had a tendency of getting ahead of her mind, something she was still carefully working to fix.
She didn't expect him to soften, the hard worn gladiator skin she had observed from before falling behind as a much gentler feline emerged. In the sharp relief of the open air, where the forest no longer touched and darkened his features, she felt herself take an involuntary breath inwards. He was much more scarred than she had originally interpreted, but she felt more enthralled by his eyes. They burned into her, like twin coals buried deep within only the most reliable of forges.
Recognition flared within her as bright as the morning sun but petered out before she could place it. Frustration clawed at her belly momentarily, but she decided to ignore her want to chase that feeling that had flooded her senses. Where had she seen him before? It felt like an older memory than that of her time in the empires, but that didn't feel right. Now wasn't the time to unpack it anyway. What was happening here and now was far more important than a pseudo memory pressing into her skull.
"I'm relieved to hear that." She responded in turn, mirroring his movement as best she could to come to a stop just as far from the border as he was. "To both things. I would hate to take you away from caring for anyone who may be injured just for a bit of information." It was an unspoken thing, but she made it clear that she believed that any empire's gladiators, whether hers or others, mattered more to her than anything else.
As the moonlight illuminated the area around them, it lifted a sense of foreboding off of her shoulders. It was nice to feel light, even if it was feeble. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Soren. I'm Nedria, Silver of Ice Empire." She smiled openly.
His scar struck her as important, but why was still... oddly unexplainable. She needed to focus, feeling as if she had fallen back into her own thoughts instead of the present. Forcing herself into the present, she returned to his words. She scrambled momentarily to find meaning to them, uncertain on whether he was inviting her onto his territory or beyond for a brief moment before she managed to connect the dots. "I have no preference if that is what you are worried about. Since I am already so far from my normal element, I shall leave that decision fully to you. Know that I am not afraid of stepping further into the trees, and since I came to you, I feel it is wiser for you to set the location in which we speak."
She couldn't describe the feeling she held in her chest in those moments that she stood closer to him, as if she was about to break something more than just the unspoken metaphysical barrier if she stepped over into his territory.
