You're right, he just fades into the background. I had a go at lighten the sky but I need to go nearly all the way up to daylight to make much difference. I think Jasen Smith had the right Idea with adding the moon.
So I thought I'd try your suggestion in reverse, darkening the sky and making him lighter, see test. Light version is as far as I think I can push it and still keep it night.
