Description “Sometimes weird lights fall from the sky when I’m touching it, thought they were stars at first but they aren’t, well at least I don’t think. It makes me curious.”

A repaint of one of my favorite concept illustrations I've done for Sky Interface I like the idea of lights falling from the sky.

Saw this image through ProjectComment and I had to write a comment on it, it's absoloutely breathtaking!

The different value between colors, highlights and shades really wraps up the piece nicely, as it holds a sort of mystical tone to the painting. Before getting to my favorite part for this picture, I really wanted to pay attention to how the light hit the face of the person in this painting. The soft glow on the nose and cheek really shows how warm and beautiful the surrounding spots in the image act, and how calm the man here seems to be. My personal favorite touch to this piece is perhaps the main focus, of him swallowing a star. How you presented the light coming from inside his mouth and throat really brought this piece together nicely, adding a lot of depth and perspective here. On his throat, showing the bone inside, really shows how bright the star is and really adds a touch of beauty here. The way the light touches the hair and the sweater also gives it that beautiful soft touch, which really adds to the tone of the piece.

One thing that maybe you could work on would be the surrounding stars in the background. Perhaps they would be too overpowering if this was implemented, but maybe by adding a bit more brightness to the background stars would make it easier to see what this man was doing without reading the title of the image. Otherwise, the circles just seem to be floating there without much reason.

However, I really don't think that this alters the image too much and overall is a stunning piece. Well done!

Ahhhh thank you so much for the kind words!! I'm really happy that the light caught your attention! And, Im especially happy you like the star!

Ahh that makes sense, thanks for pointing them out It would be nicer if they were a bit brighter!

Thank you so much for the comment and the critique! It is greatly appreciated!

You chose a very unusual theme for this piece and I really like the way you portrayed it! It has a wonderful calmness to it, that is not even disturbed by choosing opposing colours, but is rather supported through this even more. The light and dark spots of the image are balanced very well as well, creating points where the eye is drawn to and therefore suppporting the storytelling. I also like very much how you play with lights, particularly around the part of his mouth, where the skull becomes visible, which is just a wonderful detail, that really adds to the scene and also supports a slight creepiness in a rather peaceful moment!
And while i like that stars are falling all around him, it is a bit disturbing that they all have somehow the same quality of bluriness to them. While this is no major issue, it is a bit difficult for a viewer to read foreground middleground and background. If there was only a slight differentiation it already might help to clear it up a little bit. I also think his face stays rather dark in the whole scene, despite having so many lightsources. While I see you did of course add reflections of light, it might be good for them to be a bit lighter than they are now. If you wouldn't have the stars to support lights and darks in the image the face might as well blend in the background almost completely.
Other than that you really did an awesome job on this, I like the theme as well as the artistic rendition. The slight tension in storytelling just makes it even more perfect for me. Continue the awesome work and I hope I could help you a bit with this!

Ahhhhh thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I'm really glad you liked the fact part of the skull is visible! OuO I love adding that little touch of creepiness to my illustrations!

I do understand what your saying with the lights being the same amount of blurriness, the ones in the background should be more blurry because of the distance between them and the foreground :'D Thanks for pointing that out!

Thank you so much for the help!

Hi. I found your picture in the gallery of ProjectComment .

The title caught my eyes. Swallowing stars is very unusual theme for a picture, as the picture itself is original and interesting.

I like the combination of colors in this piece, it's one of my favorite ones. They are so well-fitting and shiny, yet calm at the same time.

The boy is well-drawn too. I like the details of his hair the most. The face looks good too, illuminated by the stars.

I have to say that some parts of his anatomy seems a bit off to me. The upper lip looks turned to the viewer. I'm not an anatomy expert, but I think that from this perspective we shouldn't see so much of his upper lip.

The next thing is the ear. Somebody yet wrote that it is too low, I agree. But to me it seems in a too big angle too. I think it should be more vertical.

The both things about anatomy I tried to explain here. I drew some new lines to your drawing (the dark blue ones and inside them), as I think it would be better: www.imagehosting.cz/?v=explain…

I'm not sure if my opinions are right, but I hope something from them will help you. I'm looking forward to your next drawings. Good luck

This piece is awesome!! Bravo!!
I love the colours used, and the detail in the face! The hair, also great! The lighting is really amazing, beautiful!
My only suggestion is to move the ear up abit, and make it a little larger. It looks a little low on the head. Other then that, awesome job! I really love this piece!

I bet! I really enjoy knowing how characters are and what makes them tick
I also enjoy of how their minds work and what thoughts run through their minds.

It's something I like to think about often~

It is and very fun to write about XD

And then you make them go through a really traumatic event that just
makes you love them even more then rip every one's hearts out and feast upon
their tears and sorrows

And that's basically how you write a good book xD
just the rough idea of one
