You say it speaks for itself, but I am not quite sure that is does. Is the ocean on fire because of human pollution or this is Oceanic version of Hell?
I find it's originality ignites a tinge of jealousy that my brain did not think of it first. I guess Summer school hasn't sapped your creativity.
Technique is never something I feel fit to comment on, but to give you 5 stars in everything would just be too mushy.
The impact was immediate. I did not have to think twice about favoring this. The colors and shadows drew me in even before I enlarged it.

Actually, the animal souls are ascending from the ocean and into the sky, which has an orange-ish pink-ish hue. Each time an animal dies, their souls ascend, so think about how many times fishermen catch fish and other animals, or like you said, how pollution kills off hundreds, or even when animals eat each other.
It is said that all animals are innocent, and incapable of sin, so they all end up in the same place in the end.

Coincidently I read a news article about a seagull who gobbled up a starling whole...the seagull smashed the starling on some roof tiles to 'break up its bones for easy swallowing'. It seriously made me think seagulls are a bit evil 0.0 I mean, couldn't it have chosen to eat berries instead or something?!

Meh, they don't know any better, anyways. It's gruesome, but it's part of nature.
Like when a Nepenthes plant eats a frog, or a venus fly trap swallows insects, or when a spider traps a fly. The animals are all still alive during the "eating" process (Is that what it's called...?).

Haha yep! I feel seagulls are a little bit evil for many reasons...
They might not know any better, and the same could be said for humans I think. When push comes to shove, we may end up committing terrible acts as well. In the end we are driving by very natural needs since we came from Nature too. (Getting a bit deep here XD)
I have no idea what the proper term for 'eating' process is either! I suppose at least that's one thing we don't do - eat our food alive. But animals don't have a means of preserving their food after it's dead so it's better to have it 'fresh'?...

Coming from a place where sea gulls are everywhere, I must say I have never seen that before! I always thought that sea gulls were obnoxious, since they always come and eat the leftover food outside after school lunch and make a bunch of deafening squawking xD
But yeah, I guess that's true! I don't really pay attention to exactly what they eat, so I wouldn't know xD They probably will if they're that hungry.

There aren't many seagulls where I live now but a year ago I lived near the west coast and have seen some stuff...They even kill and eat pigeons D:
