Description
Keeping A Secret***
Ike ran as fast as he could, his boots making loud thumps as they hit the stone floor. Pit! What if she finds Pit?...my dear sweet Angel.
Ike reached the top of the stairs and saw the double doors already open. Goddess, please let her try all the doors except Pit's!
"Elincia! Elincia!" Ike shouted. There was no reply and he soon saw why. Elincia was standing at Pit's door with the Fallen right beside her in complete shock.
This is most certainly not Soren, Pit observed of the emeralde. He found her to be very beautiful for a woman, and even thought her to resemble his goddess in a way that saddened him. He could tell by her belly that she was due with a child, and by the energy she emitted, he knew it would be a boy. Nope. Not Soren at all.
The Queen stared in shock at what she thought was a young Crow Laguz, and she stiffened as she heard her husband's heavy footfalls approaching from behind. She slowly turned around and fixed her husband with an angry glare. And since her back was turned, she missed the bright smile that spread across the Angel's face.
"Ike?" she questioned, bitterly. "What's going on?"
The brunette hugged her from behind. "Hi, I'm Pit!"
The emeralde stiffened, a very surprised look on her face. "Umm...." She turned around to face the boy. "Hello, Pit. And who might you be?"
"Pit is my new adviser. Just came not that long ago from Kilvas," Ike explained.
Elincia looked at Pit. "What a surprise." The Fallen smiled brightly.
The King motioned for Pit to play along.
"I am here to be with Ike!" Pit stated proudly.
Elincia raised a brow but didn't comment. "Well, you're welcome to stay here, Pit... Ike, I believe you and I need to talk about... this."
The Angel pouted. Does that mean no lunch?
"I'll meet you downstairs," Ike said. "I need to talk with Pit for just a moment."
Elincia seemed hesitant to go. After a pause, she said, "Fine." She turned on her heel and walked out of the west wing.
Ike sighed. "I'm sorry, Pit." He pulled the youth into the bedroom. "Promise me, you won't ever tell her why you are really here. This wasn't ever supposed to happen."
The Fallen returned the embrace, his wings fluttering. "I know, my Ikus... I'll keep it a secret..." His stomach growled. "Um... I'm hungry."
Ike let his head fall from the weight of his stupidity. "How could I forget? Soren didn't make it up here." He kissed the boy's head. "I will have Oscar bring you up a plate, okay? I'll even add a brownie."
The Angel fluffed his midnight feathers. "Mmm," he hummed.
"It's best if you stay in your room until Soren and I come back to talk with you," the larger man advised.
The cherub nodded. "I will! I promise I'll stay here... Will Soren be okay?"
The bluenette kissed the Angel on the forehead. "Of course he will. Don't you worry about a thing. I'll come talk to you tonight, baby." After one final hug, the King left the room to meet with his wife. "Yes, Elincia?"
The Queen sighed heavily. "All of your lies about the west wing aside, can you please explain why that Crow was so... important that you would ignore me?... And Sir Geoffrey! That poor man! Soren's never exactly been 'stable', but I never considered him a threat to our friends and family! Can you please explain to me why my dear Lord Geoffrey deserved to be stabbed?!"
Ike was just about sick on the inside to have to hear about Geoffrey, yet again. Personally, he was glad that the lance knight was stabbed; he was also quite proud of Soren for that.
"I understand. But Geoffrey wasn't the only one hurt. It appears your suck up gave my adviser a strong handling. That was unnecessary!"
Elincia sighed. "So they're both guilty, but are you going to let Soren get away with stabbing Geoffrey! Ike! He could have killed him! The knife was poisoned!"
"He was protecting me," the King replied.
"From what!?" Elincia asked bewildered.
"He was protecting the right to my castle and my privacy. Geoffrey had no right to go around sneaking!"
"That warrants less than stabbing our most trusted, loyal, and skilled general!" the Queen defended.
"I will stand by Soren, as you will stand by Geoffrey," Ike said.
Elincia rolled her eyes. "Can't you see the logic, Ike?" she asked. "Geoffrey was only living up to his oath. He was protecting this castle."
"I won't give him any sympathy. He was prying and you know it!"
"You were hiding something, Ike. Why!?" the Queen questioned. "That laguz is nothing more than a marshmallow with feathers! Harmless. I would understand if it were a mass murderer...but that?"
The King sighed. "I will resume later with you. I need to check on Soren."
The Queen looked upset. "You never answer my questions."
"Sir Geoffrey must be in need of assistance," he assumed, already turning his back on his wife.
"Indeed he is. I will see to him," Elincia replied, walking out the door. "This conversation isn't over. I expect to see you soon."
The King nodded and walked toward the southern wing, where he would find Soren still with Rhys. Elincia also went to the medical bay, but entered a different room.
Ike knew where her loyalties lied. As she did his.
