Ike stepped into the cherub's room and kissed his forehead, rousing the Fallen from his nap. The Angel stretched before opening his wide blue eyes and smiling. "Ikus! You're here!"

"I am, baby," the king cooed, pulling the young man into his lap. "And I wanted to talk to you... You get to come downstairs tonight and eat dinner with everyone. I need you to pretend that you are from a country called Kilvas, okay?... I'm scared that if people found out we are in love... they might take you away," the bluenette whimpered, embracing his lover. "I can't lose you again, Pit... I can't."

"You won't, Ikus. I'll do whatever you ask so I can stay here. I want to go to dinner! It'll be fun!"

The former mercenary smiled and nodded. "That's right. This is your first big dinner. Let's get you cleaned up and dressed; we've got to be down there in half an hour."

Much to his disappointment, Ike had to sit at the head of the table next to his wife. He overlooked the evening guests with Soren at his right hand, glaring at Geoffrey who sat directly in front of him to Elincia's left. Pit sat on Soren's right facing Lucia, Geoffrey's sister. Next to Pit was a Crimean noble, who the Angel was actively engaging in a rambling conversation, centered around food.

Soren did little to restrain Pit as he was burning a hole through the Lance Knight with his glare. Geoffrey stabbed mercilessly at his salad while glaring at the sage.

Elincia smiled at all of her guests, though she continued to give Ike the cold shoulder.

"May I have your attention, everyone," the King called to his company. "As you all are aware, we have a new guest this evening. I would like you to show a warm welcome to my new adviser, Pit."

The Angel smiled broadly and waved excitedly to all. "Hi!" the Fallen chirped. "Nice to meet you."

Geoffrey tore his gaze away from his sworn enemy to look up to the king. "Your highness, why are we just now hearing of Lord Pit? I didn't get word that anyone arrived today."

Before either Ike or Soren could come up with a witty reply, Pit piped up. "I've been resting in my room."

"Oh," Elincia mumbled. "Is that where Ike has been all this time? Why he keeps going to the west wing?"

"Yes," Soren quickly spoke up. "Pit came down with an illness the moment he arrived a few weeks back. He's been bedridden, and the King didn't want to expose his expecting wife to the illness. He's had the west wing closed off because of it."

The Queen looked to her husband and smiled. How could she continue giving him the cold shoulder when he did what was necessary to keep her healthy...their baby healthy. "Oh Ike..." she breathed and kissed him on the lips sweetly. "I shouldn't have been so harsh with you about the west wing, now that I know I feel terrible. Won't you forgive me for saying those terrible things to you?"

"Of course," Ike replied simply.

"Thank you," the Queen said relieved and kissed her husband once more on the lips.

Geoffrey watched the couple kiss while continuing to stab at his meat. Soren turned away, clearing his throat loudly.

Meanwhile, the Angel just stared. He watched as ribbons of love passed between the kissing couple, and suddenly felt terribly jealous. Ike is... Ikus is mine!

Elincia pulled away and smiled lovingly at her husband.

Dinner rolled on with talk of politics, and new ideas of how to better Crimea which forced Ike to be attentive as ever, as he was King. Soren also looked slightly bored, but kept himself sane with his casual glances at Ike which made his heart beat faster. It was better than looking at Geoffrey's hateful glare the entire time.

Pit on the other hand was beaming with happiness.

His initial jealousy of Elincia's actions long forgotten, the cherub was making fast friends, though he seemed a bit lacking when it came to table manners. "Excuse me, sir," he would say before reaching over a noble's plate to grab the butter. "I need this," he assured.

Lucia couldn't help but giggle at the Fallen's actions and Geoffrey looked annoyed. "Does your new adviser know how to behave?" he asked the king.

Ike glared. "He's laguz, and not used to our traditions. Don't judge him again, or I'll have you confined to your chamber."

"Yes, sir," the lance knight replied, none too happy about being threatened.

"Well is our new guest enjoying himself?" the Queen asked looking at Pit.

"Oh yes! This is quite fun," the Fallen assured. "Thank you for inviting me."

Ike chuckled as did the ladies. "No need to thank us, it's your right as my new adviser to have dinner in our company. From now on, you will be expected to eat here."

"Really?!" Pit asked eyes lighting up. "That would be most delightful, yes."

Ike nodded entranced by the young man's glowing features. He looked eloquent, too beautiful to belong there.

I'll make sure that you're always safe, my Angel. You and I will never be far apart. You're my priority; the one thing that's still good in my life.
