Description
Seeking Solace"L-… Link…" Soren called weakly, his voice barely a whisper, but his pain screamed in his eyes.
The tome slipped from between the Hero's fingers, landing on the cold floor with an unceremonious thump.
Dark's chuckling was the only thing that could drag the blonde's attention away from his lover. "Ah…" he crooned. "We meet again, Link," he smiled, pressing the blade closer to the sage's throat. Soren whimpered.
"Let him go," the Hero commanded, but his voice held no authority as it shook with fear for his lover. "Please, don't hurt him anymore."
The shadow eyes gleamed as he watched his heroic counterpart falter. "I now know why you want him so much." He smirked as he pulled Soren closer. "His body is the best."
Dark smiled at the pain now in his twin's eyes. The Hylian of light clenched his fists. "Dark, let him go! It's me you want!" Link called, shivering as he watched beads of his lover's blood line the clone's blade.
The shadow laughed. "Scared?" he mocked as he watched his twin shake. "What is he, to you, Link? All I see is an insignificant life; a waste of--"
"Let him go now!" the Triforce holder demanded, his voice booming in the large room.
The clone beamed at the display. "Oh?" he taunted. "Getting mad? Well here," he said, yanking the blade away from Soren's neck before plunging it into the sage's side. The young Branded's crimson eyes flew open in agony, but he couldn't even cry out before he was kicked to Link's feet. "Take him."
The blonde could only stare in shock at his lover's still form on the floor in front of him. Soren was still. So very still. He didn't move to be closer to his love, and he didn't make a sound. The whole temple was brutally silent, and Link held his breath.
"D-…Dearest Soren?" he whispered, his voice quivering.
His only answer was the puddle of blood slowly forming at the sage's side. The sight twisted in the Hero's heart, and clawed at his soul. All his happiness seemed to vanish with his lover's life blood.
And then he heard Dark's cackle. His usually calm eyes locked on his twin with icy intensity.
"I love it! That fear! That hate! That rage in your eyes!"
"I'm going to fucking make you disappear for eternity!" Link yelled with such force that his whole body shook. He threw himself at Dark, Master Sword in hand, ready to carve him into a jack-o-lanturn. The shadow was quick and deflected the blow with ease. Enraged, the blonde attacked ferociously, the loss of his love giving him strength he didn't even know he had.
But no matter how fast he swung, or no matter how much power he put into his sword, Dark easily evaded or deflected him. "You're making this frightfully easy, Link. I'm about to fall asleep; and here I thought you were mad…"
With a ferocious cry, the Hylian plunged his sword straight towards the shadow's chest. Unfortunately, the clone was faster, and saw an easy opening. He side-stepped the stab and kneed his twin in the stomach, sending the blonde tumbling sideways.
The Master Sword hit the ground with an ear piercing clash before resting just out of reach of its bearer's hand.
Restraining himself from laughing hysterically, Dark slowly made his way over to his light copy, savoring each step that would ultimately lead to the Hero impaled on the tip of his sword. He watched as the green clad Hylian struggled, reaching in vain for his sword. The shadow kicked it away.
"Ah… How the Hero has fallen," he cackled, looking down into Link's hurt eyes.
Soren… my Dearest Soren…
Dark grinned. "We really should do this again sometime," he teased, aiming his sword. "Unfortunately, I just want to hear you scre--"
Within seconds, Dark was swept up in a magical tornado and tossed into the tree, disarming him instantly.
The blonde's head snapped up and he looked around, his gaze locking on his lover. … Soren!
The sage stood shakily, one hand holding his tome while the other struggled to stop the bleeding in his side. Though his face was deathly pale, his eyes were alive and determined. They locked with his lover's. "Link! Finish him now!"
The blonde turned his gaze back to the shadow clone, who was slowly rising to his feet with the help of his sword. "Hm… You're stronger than you look, gorgeous…" he growled and started for Soren.
Link snatched up the Master Sword and, on instinct, threw it at Dark. The mockery looked over his shoulder just in time to side-step the attack. "Is that all you--?"
A strong gust of wind redirected the Master Sword, sending it right through the twisted clone's heart, and pinning him to the lone tree. He yelped, but more from shock than pain and allowed his sword to crash to the floor.
"Damn," he cried and allowed his head to fall, a trickle of blood trailing down his chin.
The blonde Hylian approached his shadow with caution, making sure that the battle was won.
Dark saw his approach and looked up, meeting Soren's gaze rather than his twin's. "You may have won this time, but as long as Link lives, so shall I." The clone chuckled, as if this was his own personal joke, and the more he laughed, the funnier it became. Soon, the mockery was in hysterics, his crazed laugh reaching every corner of the temple, too loud to ignore. And without warning, he dispersed into black ash, though his echo remained.
Soren groaned, completely spent from the last spell and swooned, but his love caught him before he could reach the cold floor. The sage's tome slipped from his bloody palm, and he focused the remainder of his strength to stopping the bleeding. When the young spell caster looked up, he saw that his lover was in tears.
Why? Why did he have to hurt you? My most precious… "Soren… oh dearest Soren, please don't die. Don't leave me," he begged, his voice growing thicker with each word.
Soren's usually hard eyes softened. "Shhh… You idiot. Don't you remember that I'm part dragon? I can't die as easily... as humans… can…"
And the sage slipped back into unconsciousness, his bare form even paler now than before.

That's right! And it's so scary to think that he can never be destroyed.
Does that mean that so long as Link is happy, Soren isn't in any real danger?
