Things That Annoy Me

Crickets sing their evening song as twilight passed into dusk. Fireflies hovered in constellations for their ceaseless dance of summer love. Some hovered near the Crimean campsite, eager to announce their devotion to the flickering campfire. Roy, the red-headed noble of Pharae, snatched one of the summer bugs out of the air and childishly examined its light. Afterwards, he extended his finding to his lover, Prince Marth of Altea.

“For you, my love,” the young swordsman whispered in a sultry voice, holding the insect only inches away from the prince’s face.

Marth sighed and ended his conversation with Ike. “What is it now-AHH! Roy!” The bluenette ducked away, and in the process, fell off the log the two of them he been sharing. The campsite erupted in laughter.

“Aw, pretty princess fall off her throne?” Roy teased.

Marth glared and pulled himself to his feet, lightly dusting himself off. “Honestly, Roy,” he scolded as he accepted the odd gift. After a moment’s examination, he released the tiny creature. “I thought you were too old to be chasing fireflies.”

“Who’s chasing? I caught it just sitting here.”

The bluenette sighed and returned to his seat. “The night is lovely,” he remarked deeply, looking up at the stars.

Pit, the Angel of Skyworld, openly agreed and leaned against his lover, the Great Hero Ike.

Soren, in a rare moment of sociability, was actively listening as his lover, Link the Hero of Time, pointed out various stars and the Hylian myths behind them. For once, the two were at peace.

Marth smiled and looked over at Roy, who seemed to be lost in his own musings. The noble bluenette smiled, curious as to what his lover might be pondering. “What are you thinking, Roy?”

Roy smiled, looking up at the stars. “I was just thinking how awesome it would be if my ass glowed every time I was horny, like a firefly!”

All conversation at the campfire ceased. After a brief pause, Link exploded into laughter while Soren groaned in annoyance.

“Honestly, Roy,” Marth growled when he noticed Ike’s unimpressed expression. The red head just cackled.

“C’mon, lighten up! It’s a joke, Marth. Jeez,” the noble mumbled, leaning back on his hands.

“I can’t help but wonder,” Soren interrupted, closing his book. “How the two of you ever managed to end up with each other.”

Link chuckled. “Oh, that’s a good story.”

Pit leaned forward in his lover’s arms. “Oh! Tell me! I want to hear a story! Tell us how you both met!”

Ike nodded and held his Angel closer. “Yeah, you guys never talk about how you met.”

“There are reasons for that,” the Prince sighed, putting his face in his hands.

The Hylian smirked. “Should I start, or do you want to?”

Roy jumped up. “I will! It all started the night the first round of new comers arrived at the Tournament! I showed up before Marth. Fashion Queen, late as usual. I met Link, who was pretty happy that there was finally another swordsman around. Man, we hit it off!..”
