Marth sighed heavily. “I’m actually kind of glad that I slept through your initial foolishness.”

“Pssh!” Roy waved the Prince away.

“Goodness, Marth! I had no idea!” Pit said, fluttering his wings anxiously.

“Well, it wasn’t so bad. I was only out for – what? Two weeks? Maybe less,” Marth replied, racking his brain for the exact amount of time that he was out.

“Fuck you! That shit is scary for people who think that you’re never going to wake up!” the young noble yelled, much to the surprise of the others.

The Altean man smiled and pulled his lover into a hug. “I’m so sorry to have worried you.”

“Worried? You scared me half to death!”

Link looked at Soren and squeezed his hand, remembering when they had undergone a similar trail in their relationship. Soren gave him a small smile in return. Link beamed. “Yeah, Marth, you would have had to have been there to believe it, but Roy never left your side. It was the most devoted I’ve ever seen him…”

“Roy? You okay? You’re practically vibrating in your chair,” the blonde Hylian observed with some amusement.

The red head winced. “I have to pee… But Marth’s in a coma… So I won’t…”

Link laughed. “This is a whole new level of stupid. Don’t torture yourself, Roy. Take a piss, man. He’s not going to wake up in the two minutes that you’re gone.”

“Oh, yes he will! I know Marth! He’s probably got it all planned out. He’s just gonna lay there, pretending to coma and all that shit, but secretly he’s waiting for me to piss, because the second I’m gone, his eyes are going to pop open. Then the two of you are going to start talking about how I’m some huge jerk for not staying with him after I knocked his ass out! I know how this works!”

The blonde stared. It took a moment for him to realize that Roy was being serious. “Okay, whatever. Fine… Have it your way. You stay here and wait with Sleeping Beauty. I’m going to take a leak.” With that, Link went into the private bathroom. “Ah man!” he called loudly, knowing that Roy was listening. “This is going to feel awesome! Just unzip my pants… And there we go! Here that, Roy? That’s not the sound of me peeing; that’s the sound of relief you’re listening to!.... Ahhhh! Goddess, that’s better! Hold on!” the Hylian replaced his pants and flushed the toilet. “Gotta be a gentleman about it! … Just listen to sound of that running water! So… relaxing! Relieving in a way! How all your all your stress just flushes away!

“Now, I gotta wash my hands!... Just listen to that: more running water! All this liquid just flowing! Man, the bathroom is a very fluid place when you think about it!” Link concluded, drying his hands. He then opened the door and looked out. “How’re you holdin--”

The archer stared in shock as he watched Roy pee into the vase holding Marth’s “Get wells soon” bouquet.

Roy glared over his shoulder at Link. “I hope you realize that this is entirely your fault!”

Marth placed his face in his hand. “Seriously, Roy?”

“Hey, I never left your side. If I had to pee, I either did it in my empty pop can or vase. If I had to drop one, I waited ‘til it was just me, and I’d do it in the bathroom with the door wide open--”

“Roy!”

“Shut up! I love you! Don’t be an ass about it!”

Link laughed, “So, in case you ever wondered why you didn’t have flowers when you woke up, it’s not because the other Brawlers didn’t care; it’s because Roy kept peeing on them.”

Pit giggled. “Goddess, Roy!”

Soren shook his head. “Disgusting…”

“Roy,” Ike began, but stopped himself, not wanting to swear in front of his lover.

“When did you wake up, Marth?” the Angel asked cheerfully.

“I think it was twelve days after Roy knocked me out. I came to, and the first thing I remember was…”

A low groan filled the room as the sleeping prince suddenly stirred. Roy looked up from clipping his toenails, and Link set his ocarina down.

“I told you that song sucks,” the red head grumbled in response to his friend’s musical talent.

Link glared, but didn’t reply.

“Ugh,” Marth groaned as he opened an eye. “Roy?! Link?!”

“I’m so sorry, man,” the noble youth cried, making the prince whine from the loud noise. “I never wanted to hurt you! I don’t always like you, but please don’t do that again! You scared me!”

Marth pursed his lips as the fiery swordsman’s words began to sink in. “… How long have you been here, Roy?” he asked hoarsely.

“The whole time, Marth. I wanted to be here the second you woke up… In case you wanted to yell at me,” the red head replied timidly. “You can start now, if you want.”

“No… No loud noises… My head’s pounding…”

For the first time, the noble lowered his voice to a whisper. “Okay, I’m going to get you a water. Take it easy, but don’t go back to sleep, okay? I’ll be right back!” With that, he sprinted out of the room.

Marth turned to Link. “Who was that, and what happened to the real Roy?”

Link sat down by the bed smiling. “That was the real Roy.”

“How? He’s nothing like the Roy I know.”

“Well, almost losing you changed him, I guess. He hasn’t left the room since I brought him down here. He didn’t want you to wake up alone.”

The Prince closed his eyes and smiled in disbelief. “Amazing. And all this time, I thought he hated me.”

Before Link could reply, the Pharaean noble rushed in, water in hand. “I’m back. The nurse said you might be sore for a while, so don’t get all worked up, okay? Here, I got you one of those bendy straws so you can sip on your water like a lazy-ass.”

The Altean accepted the drink gratefully. “Ah, thank you.”

“Hey, it’s nothing. You would do the same thing for me, right?”

Marth lowered his gaze in guilt, unsure of whether or not he was capable of the same compassion as his former enemy.

“What? You can’t be serious! You’re saying that you wouldn’t be there for me if I was in a coma?!” Roy yelled, pushing Marth away.

The Prince scooted back into place and pulled his lover into a hug. “I’m talking about back before we were lovers. Now, of course I would stay by your side, Roy. I love you.”

The noble boy pouted. “I love you too,” he whimpered as he hugged back.

“My Goddess, your story is as complex as ours,” Soren observed, leaning on Link. The Hylian held him close.

“And nothing like ours,” Pit giggled, turning to smile up at Ike. The bluenette rewarded him with a kiss.

“Well, we can’t all be so lucky to have love at first sight, Pit. For most of us, it’s a long and complicated process,” Soren said.

Pit nodded and turned to Marth and asked innocently, “When did you know you loved Roy?”

The Prince smirked. “I do believe that I made my feelings know the day that they doctors released me back to my quarters…”

Roy walked down the hall on his way to meet up with Link when he saw Marth at the other end walking straight towards him. Even with his hair shortened, the Altean noble was still handsome. He approached the youth with a hardened glare on his face. “Roy! Don’t move!” he commanded as he stormed down the hall.

The red head froze, debating on whether he should flee or accept his fate. Just as he had settled on the former course of action, his shirt was roughly fisted by the Prince, and he was slammed up against a wall.

“I’m sorry!” he pleaded, as his arms were pinned. “I’m sorry! Please, don’t kill m--”

The boy was silenced as Marth’s lips met his own in a rough, yet passionate kiss. “No need to apologize,” the Prince whispered, their faces only inches apart. “You’re one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.”

The youth instantly blushed as red as his hair. “Uh… Can you do that again?... I liked it…”

Marth grinned and kissed the boy once more.

“…. And there you have it. For better or for worse, we’ve been stuck together ever since,” Roy cheered, giving Marth a big kiss on the lips.

The Prince hummed in pleasure and stroked the boy’s cheek.

“Awww,” Pit cooed.

“I guess that’s a happy ending,” Soren stated, standing. “I’m off to bed. Coming, Link?”

“Coming, Dearest Soren!” the Hylian called, jumping to his feet. “See you tomorrow, lovebirds,” he called to the two remaining couples.

Ike smiled as he watched the blonde disappear into a tent with his best friend. Pit turned in Ike’s lap and whispered in the larger man’s ear. “Sure, baby,” the bluenette said with a smile. “We’re off to bed as well. See you two in the morning,” he called to the noble couple. “Thanks for sharing the story.”

“Night!” Pit chirped, rushing off to his tent with Ike.

Marth shook his head as the campsite once again grew quiet. He looked down at his lover with renewed affection. “Just you and me now,” the Prince whispered seductively.

Roy grinned and replied, “My ass is glowing brighter than the campfire… just for you.”

The Altean smiled and lifted the youth into his arms before carrying him off to their shared tent.

“I love you too, Roy.”
