i recommend either getting a blending stick or making one, because it would improve your artwork 10-fold.

just roll up a piece of paper (really tightly) into a tube and rub the end on graphite pencil lines. It will blend them together so that it makes a solid, uniform color instead of lots of lines like on your horse picture
