Days turn into weeks, weeks into years,
Everything changes ‘cept the thing you can’t hear.

This dilemma is tricky, I have to admit,
But how can I fix what I cannot transmit?

I can only sigh as my friends walk by,
For how could they know that I can’t even say “Hi”?

Class after class goes by without incident,
What the teachers forbid seems quite insignificant.

Some take it for granted, others don’t care,
But what would they do if they were caught in this snare?

Seen or not seen? Heard or not heard?
If invisibility isn’t worth it, this seems quite absurd.

Day after day, week after week,
I want to say something, yet I…just…can’t…speak.
