In your Universe, how do Irkens age? Like, how many years for childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age, you know? 'Cause it's hard to figure out~ You said that Sideos was about late twenties in human years when he escaped from the Asylum. But he was in there what, 50-70 years? Just how exactly do Irken years correlate to human years in your IZ universe?

Oh, and if I were to look for a free-of-charge Britishian advisement sort of fellow, to make sure that everything was properly Britishy in a story involving Britishyness... Would you be up for that, do you think?
I'm currently kicking around various story ideas, some of which involve, in brief, the consequences of a war between a secret society ruling the magic-using populations everywhere the British Empire touched*, and the magical population of India, which is a bit miffed about the whole "Magical British folk still ruling the magical Indian folk" thing.
*America isn't controlled by the House of Fate (the magical folk of Britain), for various reasons, but it's not entirely ruled by any one single government either, being divided between the Kingdom of Fifty, the Confederate Unity, the Sovereign West, and... Free Wyoming.
Free Wyoming is only "Free" because some idiot decided to make a play for independence during a period of civil instability, and nobody can be bothered to take it, since the Confederate Unity is too far away, and neither the K50 or Sov-West want to take the chance of starting a war with the other.

Hum... well, you might want to make the House of Fate 'The Royal House of Fate', because adding royalty just makes thing extremely British.
What about the main characters? And is it set in an epic Industrial Era/Victorian/Turn of the Century setting?

It's set in more modern days, to strengthen the contrast between the British Empire, which has kinda broken apart, and the House of Fate, which has, ever after the American Revolution, kept a stranglehold on anywhere it has ever touched, and never, ever let go. Once of the main gripes that the Indian revolutionaries had was that their mundane counterparts were independent, but they themselves were still being held under a foreign power.
As for "Royal House of Fate," I'm of two minds regarding that. On the one hand, you suggested it, and what did I ask for your suggestions for, if not to listen to them? On the other hand, the House of Fate has been separate from the British government ever since those few people who knew of it conveniently died within a short period of time, and the House simply neglected to inform anyone. And the House of Fate would really like to stay separate from the British government, minus the Monarchist Party (which has "telling the Royal Family that, um, we've been illegally operating without your knowledge for a long time now, but hey, we're back, and we're not a bunch of disloyal bassards, so you're our highest authority, not Parliament).
Oh, and it's not "Royal House of Commons" and "Royal House of Lords," is it? Because that's where the term "House of Fate" came in (they were a sort of shadow House in Parliament, possessing a certain degree of influence, but hidden away from public view, until they eventually, and illegally, broke ties with the British government). Wiki says that it's not, but... As a British fellow, you'd know for sure, and Wiki doesn't always know what it's talking 'bout.
As for particular characters... I have a few character bunnies bouncing around, but for the most part, I'm working more on fleshing out the world first. That said, I've got two 1,000 word ficlets which I wrote to flesh out the mindsets of the Britisher Veterans, after they came home at the end of the Indian War. Would you want to give me your email, so I can send them to you?

Gotta agree with you on aliens vs. zombies. An alien could be anything. A zombie is a shambling corpse with a nasty contagious disease, pretty much every time. And one of the main ways to 'improve' zombies totally loses the heart of the thing - running zombies. Ridiculous.
