Heh, a cover for Universal Sports, an idea started by ~JoshBSide . I wanted to drw Essie and Shjori Hei on the cover as a fight-matchup. Boxing Vs. Krav Maga, anyone?I've never tried making something like this before, so it was interesting |D Anyway, here you go Josh C:

Classy! This would be a most fascinating event to witness - both styles of fighting certainly have their advantages over the other. I absolutely love just how 'cover-ish' this really is, complete with sub-articles. They all seem like things one would genuinely find in something like this.
The only issue I can find - if you will pardon a wee bit of intended paronomasia - is there seems to be a misspelling of 'TO': "TAKE SKYDIVING OT THE NEXT LEVEL!.."
Although.. 'Vortby'? My hat goes off to you, madam.

I would have to agree, they definitely have advantages and disadvantages to one another and with a common rule set that complements both of their talents, I think that it wouldn't be one to miss.
Vortby, actually, is something lame that I came up with through RP. Needed a popular Vortian sport, got to thinking about their physiology or however it can be interpreted by people, as well as a similar style of gameplay that would complement that well. Rugby, why not? Played very similarly and it's quite entertaining to watch as the Vortian make use of their horns and thicker skulls in tackles, at least to our interpretation. It was a lame idea then to fill a hole, but I'm glad people find it amusing, heh.

I'm afraid to say... I think, as a fighting style, Krav Maga would emerge victorious-- so long as Essie didn't get in one good straight to knock Shjori's block off.

Oh, definitely she would. Essie would get mangled in a cage. As you said, the only way she could keep her at bay and possibly win is staying on her feet and using her hands. If it goes to the ground or gets it a submission move, it's over because she's not trained in any other styles or anything other than boxing.
However, go by those rules, I think she's got the edge with hand speed. Even though they're coming from different sports, if there was a common set of rules that evened the playing field, I think it'd be a pretty even and fair fight.
Krav Maga is brutal, no doubt about that, likewise and familiar to Russian Sambo. Targeting of joints and limbs for dislocation, incapacitation, or breaking of bone, it' systematic destruction of ones opponent in the shortest amount of time possible and least amount of effort used, it's no surprise that it is primarily a military-trained martial art, such as Sambo used by the Spetznaz in Russia.
Either way, I thought it was an awesome idea whenever Saik brought it up in a comment on the one that I did that inspired this, and I can safely say it was well worth the wait :3

...just...whoa...where to begin...
This is...amazingly badass. I really wish I could have recovered or found that font that I used on the one I did for consistency's sake, but I digress. It's a minor issue I blame on myself, you took the initiative and did what you had to do to complete the piece, and it works. The font's simple and works with it. All the same elements with the barcode and all, it looks good.
Date's off though, I dated my Sept. 2025 
Now that I'm through nitpicking, because that's all I can really do in all honesty, time to move onto the awesome levels of awesome that is this C:
First of all, nice work on all of the fonts and arrangement, simple and straight to the point. The other articles in the issue made me giggle, especially the skydiving one XP. Overall, it's very balanced and seats well on the bottom, makes you read from top to bottom as the eye looks to all that is going on.
As for the character placement, it's fitting, opposite one another, looking confident and ready for action, ready to throw down. Pride of one another's peoples regardless of sport, willing to prove one way or another whom is top dog and better at what they do. Not sure how Essie would fare in an MMA bout with such a limited repertoire other than striking with her hands, but she's got the speed and dexterity to let her hands fly. It all depends on how it would go down in the end, but regardless, they're clearly competitors and looking for a challenge after conquering their respective sports and ready to tear into one another.
Essie the confident, but clean competitor, Shjori the systematic destroyer of joints and limbs who's not afraid of bending and breaking rules...it's quite the match-up. Different species, different personalities, different sports, different...everything...it's almost like an episode of "Deadliest Warrior" XD
Overall...I love this, I adore it...I'm humbled that you'd use anything of my creation in any form at all. Ass kissing or not, I got to give my props to you. People like you make me want to improve my own talents and get better. I tip my hat to you and keep the amazing art rolling, give me inspiration and a goal to work towards.

Heh, I could personally see Nizerei making that comment which is why I chose to include it. I haven't tried the whole magazine-cover thing before but I had a firm image of what it should hopefully look like, so I am glad that it worked out.
Absolutely. It's time for the roughest tumble since Q-Boks Vs. Crudge. I think if Essie does keep her distance and possibly play on her reach a bit she could manage to keep herself in the game.

Understandable, and I did extensive searching of my own...I could not find it there, either. I don't know what happened to it or where it went, I can only imagine. Just learned the valuable lesson of backing things up in other places several times over though XP
Not a problem, it's fine as it is, you don't have to change it if you don't want to, just didn't want people to get confused or anything if they actually saw the connection between the two of them or anything.
I don't just like it, I love it, it just oozes badassery and is awesome all in its own regard. Keep up the amazing work and think about that suggestion I made regarding a follow-up to this if you're still interested in doing such a trade in the future ^^
